DE to Mt. Holly, NJ - TWO LEGS LEFT!

The Campbell County shelter is overflowing - and they are willing to do quite a
bit of driving this weekend to get these lucky dogs on the road. Now we just
need to get them to their rescues and Levi to his new home (pending completion
of the home check). Please email me at tierbee @ aol.com (remove spaces) if you
can help. We will need multiple drivers for legs unless you have a large
vehicle with plenty of crates. Please crosspost to any reliable transport
volunteers who may be able to help.

WE ARE SO CLOSE! Please help us get these dogs to safety!

THANKS!

Hello Transport Drivers,

MoStar has been allowed to add one of our Setter boys, Jake, on to the
transport below (Thank you, Marcy!). Jake has come a loooong way over the
past couple of weeks. We've got him as far as Charleston, WV and with Marcy
and her team of drivers, he will arrive in Harrisburg, PA and hang out until
we can get him on to his foster home in VT.

Peanut and Smokey are Jake's transport partners and they are headed to
Allentown, PA. However, they don't have anyone to drive them there yet.
=( We need a driver that can pick them up in Harrisburg and get them to
their awaiting contacts in Allentown. Peanut is going to his approved
adopting home and his parents are picking him up in Allentown. Smokey was
originally pulled from the Mercer County shelter and has been in temp foster
with Geri. He is headed to Rogers Rescue and his driver will be in Allentown
to pick him up.

Please help these folks (who have been so generous in helping Jake) to get
Peanut and Smokey to their destinations. If you can assist with this LAST
EMPTY LEG OF THE TRANSPORT, please contact MARCY DIRECTLY AT: marcellac @

Hello Transport Drivers!

MoStar and Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue are requesting your
assistance on SUNDAY - JULY 17 in getting Jake from the WV boarding
facility to his screened, approved A&B foster home in Rutland, VT.

Jake has come a loooonnngggg way. All the way from Houston, TX in fact. He
has been in and out of boarding and temp foster homes for the past 2 weeks
and we'd really like to get him to his foster home so he can have the
security and stability of a real "home" environment.

Jake has been battling some sort of nasal infection for more than a month.
Of course, you can't tell by his fun loving personality that anything is
wrong with him!

He was taken to the vet on Wednesday - July 6. The vet said his lungs are
clear and he is NOT contagious and gave the ok for him to travel. Jake
will be traveling with the health certificate that was issued when he came
up from Texas the weekend of July 2. He will be traveling with his meds. He
also tested + for hook and roundworms and was treated for that as well.

Recent reports from the folks that have been helping us get him moved are
that he is doing quite a bit of coughing, but we think this is a result of
the gunk in his sinuses running down the back of his throat due to the
antibiotics he is on. We are anxious to get him on to his foster home so we
can get to the bottom of this persistent recurrence of sinus problems.

If you are unavailable to drive, please consider sending this email on to
other drivers that you may know along the path of the run or crossposting to
any local groups of which you are a member.

Hello Transport Drivers!

MoStar and Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue are requesting your
assistance on WEDNESDAY - JULY 13 in getting Jake from his temp foster home
to his screened, approved A&B foster home in Rutland, VT.

MoStar has 4 puppies in Franklin, KY that are headed to Eastern Shore Animal
Rescue League in MD. I have a driver that is vacationing in Osage Beach, MO
and will be coming through the Louisville, KY area tomorrow morning.

I'm seeking assistance in either getting the pups up to Louisville this
evening (Sunday - July 10) and overnighting them, or a driver or two to
assist with transport Monday morning, July 11. The folks driving from MO to
MD are on the road right now and not sure how far west of Louisville they
are going to stop for the night, so times are a little "iffy" right now. I'm
just putting out feelers to see who might be available to assist.

As usual, ALL legs are flexible. If you are in between stops, but willing to
help, email Patti directly at:

Hello Transport Drivers!

We were unable to get Jake moved on to VT today, so I'm trying a different
tactic. The boarding facility that his is at in Charleston, WV is open on
Sunday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. My hope is that we can find some help on
SUNDAY - JULY 10 to assist us in getting him to the Pittsburg, PA area. I
have a driver that can pick him up on Monday morning in Pittsburg and get
him back to the Harrisburg, PA area. We can then work on getting him on to
VT on Wednesday of this coming week.

He will NEED AN OVERNIGHT in the PITTSBURG, PA area on Sunday night with the
availability to be able to hand him off to the driver headed back to
Harrisburg at approximately 10:00 am on Monday morning. We could also go
with an overnight in the Wheeling, WV area if whoever overnights him can get
him on to the Pittsburgh are on Monday morning.

Jake has been battling some sort of nasal infection for more
than a month. He was taken to the vet on Wednesday - July 6. The vet said
his lungs are clear and he is NOT contagious and gave the ok for him to
travel on. He is exhibiting a pretty good cough, but he is currently on a
round of antibiotics and we believe the cough is associated with the junk
from his nose draining into the back of his throat. He will be traveling
with his meds. He also tested + for hook and
roundworms and was treated for that as well.

Even if you can't assist with this run, please consider forwarding this
email on to any drivers that you know along the path of the run and
crossposting to any local groups to which you belong.

Hello Transport Drivers!

UPDATE: Friday, July 8

Tessie didn't make the trip to St. Louis on time, so this transport is now
only for one dog, Jake. We have secured him a spot in a Charleston, WV
boarding facility for Friday night, but we are still SEEKING WV AND MD
drivers to fill up his run. We are ONLY THREE LEGS SHORT of getting him to
his foster home in VT this weekend.

Hello Transport Drivers,

This is Patti Maness with MoStar. We have an English Setter girl in KC that we
need to get to St. Louis TODAY - THURSDAY - JULY 7 so she can hop a ride with a
driver going to VA tomorrow. I've got her arriving in Columbia, MO about 4:00 pm
today. I know this is VERY short notice, but is anyone out there available?

Please don't reply to the list, but rather to me and Jane directly. Please
include both of us in the email when you reply.

Hello MoStar Transports members,

As reported in the run sheet below, we've had a wonderful off from a driver
offering to help us transport a couple of our kids on trip from St. Louis,
MO to near Roanoke, VA.

The transports that I posted here for this week have been canceled and we
are going with the route below. The transport for Chester will take place
next weekend. Since our voluneer driver is making her trip on Friday, we
will be able to get Jake on up to VT this weekend. So his transport for
Monday is cancelled as well.

Hello Transport Drivers!

We have had a WONDERFUL offer from a driver taking a trip from St. Louis, MO
to near Roanoake, VA. She has offered to take Jake and Tessie along with
her.

MoStar and Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue are requesting your
assistance in continuing the run where Emily will leave off. Emily and the
kids will be arriving in the Huntington/Charleston, WV area approx. 4:00 to
5:00 pm Friday evening - July 8. We are in NEED of an OVERNIGHT in the
HUNTINGTON/CHARLESTON, WV area on FRIDAY NIGHT. Both kids will
then need your assistance heading northeast towards, PA on Saturday morning.

Tessie will depart the run in Harrisburg and head to her screened, approved
foster home in Lancaster, PA. Jake will continue northeast towards VT. He
will NEED an OVERNIGHT in the SCRANTON, PA AREA on
SATURDAY - JULY 9. Jake will then need your assistance to head on to his
screened, approved foster home in Rutland, VT on Sunday morning - July 10.

Jake has been battling some sort of nasal infection for more than a month.
Of course, you can't tell by his fun loving personality that anything is
wrong with him!

He was taken to the vet on Wednesday - July 6. The vet said his lungs are
clear and he is NOT contagious and gave the ok for him to travel on. Jake
will be traveling with the health certificate that was issued when he came
up from Texas last weekend. He will be traveling with his meds. He also
tested + for hook and roundworms and was treated for that as well. Please
take this into consideration when deciding whether or not to overnight.

As usual, ALL legs are flexible. If you are in between stops, but willing to
help, email Jane directly at

kgrothusen@... -
kgrothusen @ yahoo.com (remove spaces)

and we'll see what we can work out.

We are on Special Notice on many of the groups we belong to and we'd hate to
miss your offer to help!

Hello Transport Drivers!

MoStar is in search of weekday drivers in the PA-NJ-NY areas that can assist
us in getting and Tri-color English Setter girl, Annie, on to her foster
home. She is scheduled for transport this weekend (June 25/26) from St.
Louis, MO to Mechanicsburg, PA. We are needing your assistance in getting
her on north to her foster home in VT. Once there, she will undergo
heartworm treatment. Once she gets through that ordeal, she will be spayed
and placed for adoption.

For now, I don't have any particular route in mind, I'm just checking for
driver availability and then we can plan a route accordingly.

Potential routes out of Mechanicsburg are:

East on I-70 - North on 287 - North on 87

OR

North on I-81 to Scranton - East on I-84 to Newburgh - North on I-87

OR

North on I-81 - East on I-88

If you are available for transport on the weekdays in any of these areas,
please email me at rubyred963 @ classicnet.net with the area that you can
driver to/from and the day(s) you are available and we'll work from there.

We are on Special Notice on many of the groups we belong to and we'd hate to
miss your offer to help!

No. 1737 Session of 2005

INTRODUCED BY T. STEVENSON, CALTAGIRONE, CREIGHTON, GINGRICH,
KOTIK, PICKETT AND YOUNGBLOOD, JUNE 15, 2005

REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON TRANSPORTATION, JUNE 15, 2005

                                      AN ACT

1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, providing for transporting pets in motor vehicles.

3 The General Assembly finds that pets riding in automobiles
4 have caused distraction to drivers and that this distraction
5 sometimes results in automobile accidents and injury. It is in
6 the interest of Pennsylvania motorists and passengers,
7 therefore, to institute safety measures regarding transporting
      8 pets in automobiles.
9 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     10 hereby enacts as follows:
11 Section 1. Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
12 Statutes is amended by adding a subchapter to read:
     13 SUBCHAPTER F
14 TRANSPORTING ANIMALS IN MOVING VEHICLES
     15 Sec.
16 4592. Transporting pets in motor vehicles.
17 § 4592. Transporting pets in motor vehicles.

1 (a) Restraint rule.--A person who drives a motor vehicle in
2 which a pet is transported shall restrain the movement of the
      3 pet in the vehicle.
4 (b) Head out window.--A person who drives a motor vehicle in
5 which a pet is transported shall ensure that the entire body,
6 including the head, of the pet remains entirely inside the
      7 vehicle.
8 (c) Permissible restraint systems.--A pet may be restrained
9 within a motor vehicle by one or a combination of the following
     10 means:
11 (1) A latched crate or carrier box which is installed in
12 a manner which prevents it from becoming a moving projectile.
     13 (2) A pet seat belt system.
14 (3) If the pet is a dog, a dog gate which separates the
15 driver's area of the motor vehicle from the area in which the
     16 dog is confined.
     17 (d) Penalties.--
18 (1) Except as provided in paragraph (2), a person who
19 fails to comply with the provisions of this section commits a
20 summary offense as that grade of offense is defined under 18
     21 Pa.C.S. §§ 1101 (relating to fines) and 1105 (relating to
22 sentence of imprisonment for summary offenses).
23 (2) When a person's failure to comply with this section
24 results in a motor vehicle accident, the person commits a
25 misdemeanor of the third degree as that grade of offense is
     26 defined under 18 Pa.C.S. §§ 1101 and 1104 (relating to
27 sentence of imprisonment for misdemeanors).
28 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.

Hello Transport Drivers!

MoStar and Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue are requesting your
assistance in getting Jake from his boarding facility near Houston, TX to
his temp boarding facility in St. Louis, MO. Plans are then to move him
farther east on a future run.

Jake was scheduled to transport last weekend, but his transport had to be
canceled as he had a snotty nose. He has since been seen by a vet and is now
on a round of antibiotics.

I've been in contact with the boarding kennel this morning (Thursday - June
23) and Jake is responding nicely to his antibiotics. We are 99.9% sure the
vet will sign off on a health certificate for him so we can get him on his
way this weekend.

Hello Transport Drivers!

MoStar and Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue are requesting your
assistance in getting Jake from his boarding facility in Missouri City, TX
(just southwest of Houston) to St. Louis, MO.

Details on these boys are still a little sketchy until I can call the
boarding facilities to find out more information.

Joining the trip with Jake from Oklahoma City, OK to St. Louis, MO will be
another English Setter boy named Fletcher. I'll be getting him to OKC on a
seperate run, but then I'll NEED an OVERNIGHT in OKLAHOMA CITY, OK
for both boys.

They will then head out Sunday morning to St. Louis, MO where they will stay
until next weekend when I can get them moved further east.

As usual, ALL legs are flexible. If you are in between stops, but willing to
help, email us directly at

rubyred963@... -
rubyred963 @ classicnet.net (remove spaces)

and we'll see what we can work out.

We are on Special Notice on many of the groups we belong to and we'd hate to
miss your offer to help!

Hello Transport Drivers!

MoStar and Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue are requesting your
assistance in getting Annie from her boarding facility in Junction City, KS
to a temp foster home in Mechanicsburg, PA.

Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue is having their annual picnic in
Pottstown, PA the weekend of the 25th and Annie's foster mom from Vermont
will be attending. If we can get Annie to Mechanicsburg this weekend, she
will be able to ride back to Vermont with her foster mom and save us having
to set up a transport later. Once in VT, she will undergo her HW treatment
and once she is healed from that procedure, she will be spayed and placed
into a deserving home.

I know this is Father's Day weekend and everyone has plans, but please
consider taking just a couple of hours out of your day to see that she gets
where she needs to go. Heck, take Dad along. Setter girls LOVE Daddies!

Hello Transport Drivers!

MoStar and Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue are once again trying to
get Shiloh on his way to his new foster home. This time around, he is going
to hook up with a little Lab mix lass named Faith. They will share the ride
to the east coast together.

Shiloh will start us off in Wichita, KS. He will shoot up to Salina and pick
up Miss Faith and then the two will head towards Kansas City, MO
where they will overnight to rest of for their up for the big trip this
weekend.

Faith's family is moving from Salina, KS to VA. They don't want to leave her
behind in the care of someone else until they can fly back and driver her
out and they don't want to put her on a plane, so they have requested
assitance from MoStar to help her meet them in VA. She will be heading
to Grandpaw's (ha ha) house to spend the night until Mom and Dad land
safely in the DC area on Monday morning.

Shiloh is headed to his screened, approved A&B foster family in PA.

As usual, ALL legs are f-l-e-x-i-b-l-e. If you are in between stops, but
