Krystal was found nearly-dead at 9A and I-95 near the Jacksonville  airport two years ago.  She was grossly underweight and had all the signs of having been a bait dog for dog fights - her teeth were filed  down to the gums and she had fresh and old wounds on her face and body.  Paul found her that day and saved her life.  He nursed her back to health and she is now a happy 65# girl who is lovable with adults,  but is still not happy living with other dogs.

She likes to sleep on the couch and is crate trained and is about 3  years old now.

But her owner who saved her life is losing his own.  He is in Hospice and not expected to live much longer.  Family members all have their own dogs and cannot take Krystal in.  They are going to EUTHANIZE her - but I asked them to let me tell rescue about Krystal.  She deserves a chance to live, however, there are NO offers yet!!!

Please give Krystal a chance to beat death one more time.

This sweet little 35lbs. boy was found running down the street.  Jeff took him to VCA where he is being board for a couple of days in the hopes that a rescue will take him so he doesn't have to go to the shelter.  He is approx. 1 1/2 yrs. old and is as sweet as can be.  He just wiggles his butt when you talk to him!  This little guy doesn't jump up at all and will politely give you a tiny kiss if requested to do so:))).  He appears to have had a broken leg at some point and its healed without being set properly so he has a small limp when he walks.  The scratches and scars all over his face and body shows what a tough life this guy has had on the streets.  
A cat was crated in the lobby and he just walked up, sniffed to say hello, and walked away without any concern.  Please think about helping him!  Jeff's email is listed below. Thanks for reading!!!!

Before I start this post...I gotta tell you - I'm already in love with a couple of these dogs...  Young and so appealing... I wonder if they will still be available by the time you finish reading this post.
 
Last Friday we pulled seven dogs from a high kill shelter one hour before they were to be euthed.   BEFORE WE PULLED, we had a northern rescue lined up, now that the dogs have been pulled, this rescue has fallen eerily silent.... so we have 7 dogs we did not count on having...help!!
 
We are introducing, for the first time seen by your eyes, ta-daaa...these 5 handsome gents looking for a great rescue.  They do NOT have to go together.  Our goal is to get them out of “high kill” country.  It’s an animal holocaust down here.  

Please forward to GREAT RESCUES who will give these fellows the chance they deserve.

Jake:  Is a looker - A beautiful black lab, approx 2 years old, 60 lbs approx, laid back.  Chased chickens on the farm, owner turned him in - owner likes chickens better than dogs - foolish man.   Give me a dog anytime over a pooping chicken.  Jack seems pretty mellow, beautiful smile.  He is "okay" on a leash; tolerates it. 

BO:  Short but long beagle bassett mix, approx 2 years old, 25 lbs approx.  For a true hound lover.  This guy is laid back.  Bo is also "okay" on a leash and tolerates it. 
 
RUSTY AND RED:  the Boxer Mix Brothers.  Young....6/7 months?  These boys are tall but lean, I'd put em at 30 lbs each?  They are skittish, nervous, maybe a bit scared.  Very uncertain about what's going on.  Wonderful facial expressions...can knit their brows like nobody's business.  Rusty and Red don't like leashes and would bolt if they could--They are sweet, WANT to be affectionate, but just can't figure out what is happening.
 
Oh my Lord - look at this sweetie -
 
Dylan:  Young Beagle mix, PRECIOUS PRECIOUS PRECIOUS. A total lovebug.  Will melt your heart with those warm brown eyes.   "Okay" on a leash - tolerates it.   Oh, be still my heart!

All these boys are sharp, quick learners, and in the brief time we've had them they are catching on to city life rather quickly. Well behaved dogs. Let's give them the chance to have a great life.

An update on Harley, the male pit bull in Corsicana Texas.....
 
Harley is still boarding at the vets offices. Two very kind ladies extended Harley's life until Dec. 5th! A HUGE thank you to DeDe in San Antonio, TX and Alison of Memphis, TN!!!! Harley sends lots of big wet kisses your way!!!
 
Harley seems destined for something special after making it on the streets nearly starved to death, an injury to his back leg (probably grazed by a car by the looks of it), and then having his life extended by two total strangers! And he still has love for us humans! WOW, that says something about this fella.
He is doing great, gaining weight at a perfect rate, still has a slight limp in his back leg and probably always will, but he still LOVES his walks, or should I say he loves walking me!! He seems to get along well with other dogs. He's in a run with dogs on both sides and doesn't pay them any attention. He is going on a 'field trip' Friday to see how he is with small dogs and cats in a home setting. He LOVES baths and being dried by the blower! He has been neutered, got that done on the 2nd of Nov, is current on all his shots and is on heartworm prevention. He is positive for heartworms but shows no symptoms. We started him on Heartgard which will kill the baby heartworms and the adults will die off eventually. He is well behaved, doesn't jump up on people, not a barker, tries to 'hold it' in his run as long as he can, doesn't chew up his bedding and loves it when people come visit him.

He has until Dec 5th at which time he would have to go to the animal shelter, and in Corsicana they put pits done without even giving them a chance. It would be so nice if Harley could have a home for Christmas and a chance to give the gift of unconditional love that dogs so easily give.

This very loving and goofy girl was found by AC at the recycling center.  She has definitely had lots of litters and is very, very light heartworm positive.  Since she is still young (about two years) and very light positive, she can be put on monthly preventative in lieu of the invasive treatment.  We had her spayed as we are SO hoping she will get adopted (sadly not yet) or rescued - her pull fee of only $80 includes vaccinations, deworming and spay.  Molly gets along great with other dogs and loves belly rubs - she will roll over on her back all day long to get her belly rubbed.  This is a very special girl and we'd love to get her out of the shelter ASAP.  Transport can be arranged to a reputable rescue - please contact me ASAP at jennaluv2 @ yahoo.com if you can help.

These dogs are located at the Keokuk Animal Control in Keokuk IOWA(southeast IA). This is a very high kill shelter, new to work with rescues.  These animals will be PTS if not rescued. The two I'm worried about would be the black lab male, he's been there quite awhile, he's a sweetheart. And then the one below him that is Shaggy, sweetest face. An adorable and sweet dog was found on Monday, 11/16 on 3rd Ave btwn 4th and 5th St. The dog was tied to a tree on a very short chain leash, not able to sit down. After a couple of hours of waiting for the owner it was decided the dog may have been left there intentionally. The dog was hysterical barking, howling, shaking and obviously scared and confused. If you are the owner, have knowledge of the dog or interest in making her your new best friend please contact me immediately. I took her with the intention of finding her a safe place for the night, but I cannot keep her forever. I do not want to take her to ACC where she will likely be killed in a terrified and confused state of mind, but every other shelter here in the city has left me very little other choice. 

The dog has been so good while I've had her. She shows no signs of aggression, is submissive and obedient, follows 'sit' commands, walks well on a leash when she is comfortable with you and wants nothing but love and stability. She has had no accidents in the house and has not tried to chew anything other than her toys. I think she will make a great companion for someone who is willing to give her proper care and attention.     I CANNOT KEEP HER AND AM HOPING I WILL NOT BE FORCED TO BRING HER TO THE ACC KILL SHELTER HERE IN NYC.

An adorable and sweet dog was found on Monday, 11/16 on 3rd Ave btwn 4th and 5th St. The dog was tied to a tree on a very short chain leash, not able to sit down. After a couple of hours of waiting for the owner it was decided the dog may have been left there intentionally. The dog was hysterical barking, howling, shaking and obviously scared and confused. If you are the owner, have knowledge of the dog or interest in making her your new best friend please contact me immediately. I took her with the intention of finding her a safe place for the night, but I cannot keep her forever. I do not want to take her to ACC where she will likely be killed in a terrified and confused state of mind, but every other shelter here in the city has left me very little other choice. 

The dog has been so good while I've had her. She shows no signs of aggression, is submissive and obedient, follows 'sit' commands, walks well on a leash when she is comfortable with you and wants nothing but love and stability. She has had no accidents in the house and has not tried to chew anything other than her toys. I think she will make a great companion for someone who is willing to give her proper care and attention.     I CANNOT KEEP HER AND AM HOPING I WILL NOT BE FORCED TO BRING HER TO THE ACC KILL SHELTER HERE IN NYC.

His owner is 92 years old and needs to go into an assisted living home...but won’t because of Brownie

 

 

Hi Everyone;

I am a 7-8 old year handsome Boxer, “if I don’t say so myself”, I adore people and need your help!

 

 

My human mom was put into a home with Alzheimer’s about a year ago and my human dad yearns and needs to be with my mom but, he won’t leave me, he refuses to until I find a home or foster family.  

 

I hear the people talking that they will have done with mom in less than a week… I keep telling dad I am sure a nice family will give me a loving home so you can go be with mom, she needs you more than I.  

 

My mom is about 90 years old and dad well he is a trooper at 92 years old.

 

I want to help my mom and dad by pleading for someone to give me a loving home.  My aunts and uncles all say they “don’t need another dog”, so they can’t help.

 

 

Please  Please help me help my dad get to stay with my mom, on what may be their last Christmas together.

Breeding machine, ulcers in both eyes do to previous injuries(I don't even want to think about what might have caused the ulcers).  She is not in any pain.  She was examined by an Ophthalmologist who recommended  not to do anything to her eyes.  Just watch for dry eye.

Please help her before she is killed.  She deserves the life she has never had as a family pet, loved companion and pampered dog.

This sweet little 35lbs. boy was found running down the street.  Jeff took him to VCA where he is being board for a couple of days in the hopes that a rescue will take him so he doesn't have to go to the shelter.  He is approx. 1 1/2 yrs. old and is as sweet as can be.  He just wiggles his butt when you talk to him!  This little guy doesn't jump up at all and will politely give you a tiny kiss if requested to do so:))).  He appears to have had a broken leg at some point and its healed without being set properly so he has a small limp when he walks.  The scratches and scars all over his face and body shows what a tough life this guy has had on the streets.  

A cat was crated in the lobby and he just walked up, sniffed to say hello, and walked away without any concern.  Please think about helping him!  Jeff's email is listed below. Thanks for reading!!!!

Hello,

 My neighbor and I found a dog a week ago.  She appears to be a pit bull who has recently had puppies.  She is very affectionate and likes all animals.  She is wearing a collar, but no tags.  Would you be able to take her?  I don’t want to call animal control because I have seen her being walked by a young man back in the summer and know she lives in Troutman.  I have put up signs in the neighborhood, but so far, no luck.  I’m afraid my neighbor may wind up calling animal control if we cannot find her home or a place for her.  I’ve posted on several lost pet sites, but no luck there either.

What kind of a person names their beautiful dog Mutt?  The same kind of a person that signs their dog over to animal control instead of fixing their fence.

Poor guy was signed over to die, basically by his pathetic owners who were too lazy to fix the fence he kept getting out of.  He was probably just lonely as he is a very sociable dog!  He loves other dogs and humans alike.  Mutt is a young, handsome Boxer mix. 

He needs to be rescued or adopted this week, as the shelter is too full and he is on the short list.   Please be his angel and save his life.

There is no pull fee for rescues! You do not have to be a Georgia rescue to pull from Chattooga County Animal Control. The shelter works with many out of state rescues.
 
The shelter just needs a copy of your rescue license or your 501c3 faxed to 706-857-0676.  You do not have to be a 501c3 to rescue from Chattooga County Animal Control but you must be licensed.
 
The shelter asks for a reference or recommendation to ensure the safety of the animals.
 
The shelter uses different paid transporters at this time, but at the receiving rescue's expense most of the time.
 
If the shelter can raise money to help, they'll be more than happy to pitch in.
 
 
The shelter uses the local vet, the only one in the county, for any vetting the rescue would like done
prior to transport.  The shelter does not have many foster homes and the pets do have to be quarantined
for 10 days prior to transport.  The shelter is working to find more foster homes that can care for animals for short periods of time.
 
Chattooga County Animal Control is about an hour's drive from the interstate, so staff or volunteers will meet transports in Adairsville on I-75; or in Chattanooga on I-75
 
The shelter will do anything they can to help rescues.  They really care about these pets and want to give them every chance to make it out of the
shelter.

More About Itchy

This sweet lady is a Dogue De Bordeaux mix lady who came to us as a stray. She is such a beautiful girl with a great loving personality. She is about 4-5 yrs old and 59 lb, having moderate energy. We named her Itchy. She is a beautiful dog and was obviously someone's breeder dog for a long time.

She is housebroken, good with some dogs and seems OK with cats (indifferent) but may chase them. We recommend she goes home with kids of age 6 and over. I tc hy loves toys and stuffed animals and likes to play 'ca tc h me if you can' with them! She has some skin problems on her back due to flea dermatitis but they are being treated now. I tc hy is very alert & seems to like everyone she meets! She is calm most of the time that we had her out.

This loving girl is all around great dog that had a lousy past . I tc hy is enjoying the attention now because she did not get it in the past. We think the best thing about this dog is her 'personality', which makes her really stand out! Please give her the 2nd chance she deserves!

1) Complete a Rescue Group Application, which you can obtain by visiting Floyd County Animal Control's website at the following link:

2) Have a copy of your state issued license

3) Complete an Authorized Agents List-you can obtain this form on the Floyd County Animal Control website at this link:

http://www.floydcountyga.org/Animal%20Control/RescueGroups.htm

(this form should list every individual who will pick up any animals for your rescue group.)

 

FAX OR MAIL THE COMPLETED APPLICATION, A COPY OF YOUR STATE ISSUED LICENSE, AND THE AUTHORIZED AGENTS LIST TO FLOYD COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL AT:

OUT OF STATE RESCUES CAN BE APPROVED TO PULL FROM FLOYD COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL IF THEY COMPLETE THE RESCUE GROUP APPLICATION AND AUTHORIZED AGENTS LIST AND FAX OR MAIL BOTH TO FLOYD COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL, TOGETHER WITH A COPY OF THEIR STATE ISSUED LICENSE.

More About Itchy

This sweet lady is a Dogue De Bordeaux mix lady who came to us as a stray. She is such a beautiful girl with a great loving personality. She is about 4-5 yrs old and 59 lb, having moderate energy. We named her Itchy. She is a beautiful dog and was obviously someone's breeder dog for a long time.

She is housebroken, good with some dogs and seems OK with cats (indifferent) but may chase them. We recommend she goes home with kids of age 6 and over. I tc hy loves toys and stuffed animals and likes to play 'ca tc h me if you can' with them! She has some skin problems on her back due to flea dermatitis but they are being treated now. I tc hy is very alert & seems to like everyone she meets! She is calm most of the time that we had her out.

This loving girl is all around great dog that had a lousy past . I tc hy is enjoying the attention now because she did not get it in the past. We think the best thing about this dog is her 'personality', which makes her really stand out! Please give her the 2nd chance she deserves!

Itchy is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained

This is "VIRGO" (avail 11/04 ). He was adopted out of our shelter 1 month ago and the owners got a shih-tzu and decided that Virgo was just too big and not a good enough watch dog!!! In any case, Virgo is a beautiful longer haired Rot with an excellent temperment. He loves other dogs and children and is about 90% housebroken. Virgo obeys basic commands and walks great on a leash.

Breeding machine, ulcers in both eyes do to previous injuries(I don't even want to think about what might have caused the ulcers).  She is not in any pain.  She was examined by an Ophthalmologist who recommended  not to do anything to her eyes.  Just watch for dry eye.
 
Please help her before she is killed.  She deserves the life she has never had as a family pet, loved companion and pampered dog.
