Description

MMR is not a shelter or humane society. We are a non-profit [501 (c) 3] organization of volunteers dedicated to assisting Alaskan Malamutes and their owners when in crisis throughout the Intermountain West. We are an affiliate of the Alaskan Malamute Assistance League, the national rescue organization recognized by the Alaskan Malamute Club of America. As an affiliate, MMR operates under AMAL's code of ethics .

We offer educational material about the Alaskan Malamute breed, can assist in resolving containment issues, offer help to an owner with appropriately re-homing their Malamute when necessary, and provide behavioral issues support in the form of referrals to trainers and other more experienced Malamute owners. We also do our best to raise funds that are primarily used to help care for Malamutes with adoptable personalities who have been pulled from shelters, or who have been seized by authorities after having been abandoned, neglected, or abused. On occasion, some of these funds may be made available to help Malamute owners keep their dogs during short term crises such as a job loss or medical emergencies.

Right now we have a very limited number of safe houses (foster homes) available to house rescued Malamutes, but we hope to soon have many more of these homes at the ready throughout Idaho, Nevada, Montana, Utah and Wyoming. These safe houses provide orphaned Malamutes with socialization, training, and monitoring of any medical conditions that may need to be addressed before they can be adopted out to a forever home. It is our hope that members of this list will want to assist in any or all of these activities to the level they feel able, but we are also happy to just have you drop in from time to time to tell us how you and your own Mallies are doing. Welcome!
