First and foremost I want to thank everyone who has donated towards the girls
surgeries thus far.
Pictures of the girls can be seen here (first 14 pictures)
http://s121.photobucket.com/albums/o224/rattie_beanez
Three of the girls are scheduled for surgery Tuesday, November 24th. I still
haven't raised enough money to pay for their surgeries. Please if you can make
a donation, no amount is too small. My paypal is rattie_beanez@... One
of the girls will also be having a biopsy done on her skin cells to diagnosis a
potential problem. I discovered a fourth rattie (one of Dru's hairless girls)
has a tumor as well.
The pew rattie with the largest tumors will be scheduled soon.
I've been trying to think of different ways to raise funds for these surgeries
and their medications. I've been treating them since day 1 to ensure they're
strength during surgery and have literally no medication on hand as of today.
I have some cages (mostly Martins) I'm putting on Craigslist. If anyone is
interested and lives close enough for pick-up here is the link for pictures:

Hi Everyone,
By now most of you are probably aware of Drusilla's unfortunate situation. For
those of you who aren't familar with Dru personally you have probably seen
her pet portraits throughout the rattie community (The Illustrated Rat). I made
a promise to Dru that I would take her rat babies if she ever needed me to and
now was that time.
Two of the girls need surgery for tumor removals. One of these girls has
multiple tumors but one surgery is sufficient for now due to it's size. Only
days before hearing the news and picking up Dru's girls a woman pleaded with me
to take her one, lonesome girl. She admitted she had a small tumor but failed
to mention she has some kind of skin problem. When I mentioned it, she said she
thought it was just a rash. It is clearly more than that, not parasitic,
doesn't seem contagious but not comfortable for the rattie either.
I contacted Dr. Pilny for a general estimate on all. He hasn't seen anyone in
person yet so it's very general, but I'm looking at around $60 per office visit,
$340 per surgery & $200 for the skin scraping and pathology. This alone totals
$1200 without tax and meds.
I don't live close and cross a bridge to get to Yonkers. I made this haul over
the summer when I worked at ASC, it's not a cheap commute either but that's on
me. I know these are hard times, but please I only ask that if anyone can
donate even just a dollar or two towards these surgeries, I would really
appreciate it and the girls would too. This is really for them not me. My
paypal is rattie_beanez@... Thanks so much.

I don't think I'd be concerned unless there are more changes. From
time to time, we notice changes but it's generally temporary and
unless there seems to be something additional going on, it's
fine. We just keep an eye on things and normally it reverts back to
what is 'normal' for that mouse.

Hi All,
The color of the poop of my female mouse Cosmic Victory has dramatically and
quickly changed over the course of a day, and I'm a bit worried this could
signal an illness. Usually her poops are medium brown and dry to an almost
black. Yesterday they became beige and dry to a light brown. I have not changed
her diet. She usually eats a healthy brand of kibble, and about twice a week I
feed her a mix of oats or bulk multigrain cereal (rye and wheat flakes --the
kind you cook) with some nuts and dry pasta, and maybe a bit of cheese. She
seems healthy, is drinking water, and is as active as ever. She has a new
companion mouse whose poop has not changed.
Any ideas as to what may be causing this? Should I be concerned?
Please email me directly, not to the Mouse group address, because I read
messages on the group web page and there is a problem with the message search
feature right now so I may not be able to retrieve your message there.
