Just been working a lot of overtime the past few weeks and have been busy. I hope everyone is having a great season.
I do have some good news. About a month ago I wrote about my yellow red bellied turquosines not breeding. There were in 18 in X 18 in X 4 ft cage. I moved them into a cage that is 24 X 24 X 8 ft long. They are now on eggs.
I just received a pair of cinnamon green cheek conures. I hoping for success when I set them up.
Joey thanks for the update on the babies. Keep me posted on your other birds.
Thanks,May I hope so too.

Hi, I am in S.E.NC and have two normal female scarlet chested keets.
I bought them over a year ago from a friend that was hit by a drunk
driver, and he could not take care of them. I know they have bred and
raised because I've seen them.
One male died the first week and the second male was supper for a very
large chicken snake last OCT.
They are just so forlorn sitting out there I would like real neophema
people to get them. I've posted on other lists as I didn't know about
this one,I can hold off if someone on this list would like them.
$125 ea. or trade for finches and/or canaries(that's what I have)and I
am willing to meet you half way within reason from Wilmington,NC.
Thanks ahead of time,
Steve
Just wanted to say Hi!
Thanks Joey B. for the results and the females for MaryBeth and I..the
babies are beautiful.
Hope you all have a great day..
Hey Ray..where did you go?
Love to hear from you!
May
I've gotten the last of the results. One pink male, one pink female, and the not so pink is male also, he's the one that shows more of the pale fallow than pink. He's still a pink, just not as much pink on him as the other two.
Then for Kenny, we have one extra female scarlet chested.
I really enjoy working at the clinic. I'm learning so much about the different lab tests, the immunizations, and having a blast working with the people.
Yes.. long time no see! I was wondering the same thing.. if Tybalt was the one that hit the bars on the cage when fledging.. Juliet seems fine.. I have seen no problem with her she just does not like to be held.
Take care, :-)
Mary Beth
Hi MaryBeth:
I am wondering if Tybalt is the one who hit the window..I wonder if there is something wrong with his neck..maybe not..mine don't do that..and your female doesnt or romeo...so I dont know..

Yes...we do need more people talking I agree with you there May. Maybe that is why Tybalt is hanging his head so much.. he is waiting for a mate. He looks sooooooooo depressed.
I will take a picture of him.. and post it.. I feel like I need to cheer him up some how.
Hope you are feeling better May :-)
Anyone out there have any idea why my Bourke hangs his head down so much?

It is a beautiful sunny day here finally ..now if the weather would
cooperate and be warmer..
Ditto on looking forward to the dna...How is my Lutino or Rubino
female coming along? Is she hatched yet? I think I would prefer the
rubino female but will take either..Let me know of any updates.
I just bought a Pink..male.bourke..and I was wondering if this bird
is a opaline pale fallow or a darker pale fallow..would that be dun?
or bronze? I'm a little confused on the differences..as I have seen
pictures of the opaline pale fallow pinks and the male has looked
like this..in the pictures in Europe..online..if I can figure out
which I will buy a female to match..
Can you help?
I will put his picture in my pictures on this site..his name is Sir
Raleigh.
have a great day..

I use to trio breed three of my bourkes..a rosey male and a female
rosy and a cream hen..that was 20 years ago..
..the bourkes were good for that..but I heard the scarlets and the
turquisines were also able to trio breed very easily..may help you
get them started..don't introduce a bonded pair though..would have to
be separate birds..that havent been together..worth a try..and put
the male and then the two hens in..hang a box at opposite ends from
one another. Have to move them all to a new housing in case of
territorial conflicts..
or in the bonded pairs:
..change the positions of the next boxes or perches..to change their
environment a little..may help the bonded pairs to become interested
again..in their environment..and each other..
Putting them in that new flight sounds good too...I hope you have
much success.
any little bit helps..

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Easter and hope you all have a
good season... I used to raise bourkes in the 70's Rosies, yellows, as
we called them back then and the normals..but later went on to bigger
birds and now have started back with the smaller birds that I
love..mostly all the Australian birds.. ..except for the lineolated
parakeets..I guess the bourkes are my favorite from the Neophema
group..I just love their sweet personality. I had the scarlets years
ago until I got a quail and gave a disease and all my birds died..I
learned my lesson there..
You all have a great day..thanks
May
I've got three pairs of the turqs, and I'm having the same problem your having. None of them are breeding. One pair has started sleeping in the next box, and another pair is checking theirs out. The third pair could care less. They don't go near their nest box..
Our first 4 pairs of bourkes for the year haven't done much. One pair of pinks have had a few babies but no one else has anything. I've just set up the next 4 pairs, and all 4 pairs have been breeding already. These 4 are: split lutino w/rubino, and the other 3 pairs are rosies.
Our scarlets aren't doing that well either. Out of 3 pairs, we've had a total of 7 babies this year.
I hope you are having a good year. I am glad to hear about the lutino bourkes and hope all goes well with them. As for me last night I just pulled the last batch of indian ringneck parakeets to start handfeeding. I was able to get a few bourkes and scarlets this year but not as many as I would have liked. Hopefully next year will be better for bourkes and scarlets. I am still having problems with my turquoisines. As of today I put them in a 8 ft long flight. Maybe this will help. Does anyone have any helpful information on getting turquoisines to breed?
Just wanted to say hello to the group and to let everyone know that our second pair of lutino bourkes were caught breeding yesterday. Yeah. This will be their first time, so who know if they got it right. It's still exciting though. The male is normal split lutino and opaline (rosie), and the female is a rubino. They are both last spring hatches so, they may be too young to have gotten the job done : ).
How is everyone else doing, and Kenny, anything exciting going on in your aviary?
