Hi Folks,
Now that we are using a school again for
our monthly meetings, during the summer months when the schools are closed we
need to move our meetings to an alternate location. The automated
reminder that is sent out by our Yahoo Group calendar is a generic message
indicating the regular meeting location of Marsteller Middle School.
Please always check our website at www.NokesvilleHorseSoceity.org
for updated info regarding events and alternate meeting locations.
Wednesday,
July 8: Our July meeting will be held Wednesday, July 8 at Oakwood
Farm, the corner of Sudley Rd.

environmental challenges (mud, manure, and eroding pastures) into a model.
Membership will be able to see several types of fencing, a stream side buffer,
two auto troughs that do not require electricity, two new sacrifice area
paddocks with gravel dust, two pastures that were renovated this March, the
current state of the yet to be renovated pastures, and potentially some
wildlife habitat improvements and the manure storage bins

Saturday,
July 11: Our next Pleasure Driving Schooling Show will be held at the Bristoe Station Battlefield
Heritage Park
at 10708 Bristow Road
Bristow. (just off the intersection of Rt. 28 & Bristow Rd.) Our
Pleasure Driving Schooling show is perfect for the complete novice to the
experienced driver. For those who have never driven before, but would
like to learn more about the sport, the show will feature a mini-clinic just
prior to the pleasure driving classes. For the new folks who may be
interested in driving but don’t have a driving horse or rig, contact our
Show Manager, Martha Duchnowski at mmduchnowski@...
or 703-753-3291. Martha has a team of champion miniature driving horses
that are available for those that want to try driving for the first time.
However, you must contact Martha in advance to make arrangements.
Still want to find out more about Pleasure
Driving, but don’t want to get in the cart yet? Well, we always
need volunteers. No experience is necessary. We always need folks
to simply help set up and tear down after the show and help all around during
the clinic and show. And of course, volunteers get to observe the clinic
and show at no charge. Experienced drivers can also enjoy our Schooling
shows. As with all of our Schooling shows, they are great for the
experienced show person to hone their skills in a low key, low pressure
environment or to get some work with your novice horse. And with the
addition of the mini-clinic you get some great instruction as well.
For complete details about the
mini-clinic/schooling show and a link to directions and map for the Bristoe Station Battlefield
Heritage Park
go to our website at www.NokesvilleHorseSociety.org
and click on the link on the home page for the Pleasure Driving Schooling Show.

what jumpers are all about come out and join us. Once again, we always
need volunteers at our shows. Volunteering gives you a free division at
any of our show series. Even if you're a JUMPER, come volunteer while

our Jumper Schooling Show Series contact show manager, Tara
Skillman at TaraSkillman@...

Wednesday,
September 9: Even though schools are back in we will move our September
monthly meeting to an alternate location for a very special presentation.
Dressage demonstration and discussion by Debbie Marriott. Debbie will be
talking about the dressage and how everyone can apply it to their horses. We
will have a dressage demonstration and explanation of the aides used in
dressage. A discussion also on how different saddles cause riders to be put
into different positions and how that affects the aides given to the horse.
The September meeting will be held at Homestead Farm, 8382 Burwell Rd., Catlett,
