Description
Discussions for homesteaders and small farmers of how to raise pigs outdoors on pasture in a variety of management systems, feed styles, housing arrangements, etc for the purpose of producing pork, bacon, hams, sausage and other great foods. This group is not about pet pigs or confinement feeding operations but both of those groups of people are welcome to join and learn about raising pigs on pasture to eat.
When replying to posts, please trim down extra parts of the original so as to keep message storage and transmission minimized. Please upload photos rather than making them as attachments. This helps keep the bandwidth low as a favor to all of those who are on slower rural internet connections or have limited mailbox storage.
FS: For Sale Fridays - Limit sales to Fridays and please provide basic subject info in subject line:
FS: Item - Location - Shippable or Deliverable or Pickup at gate
Body text of message then contains description of what is to be sold, asking price, delivery, terms, etc.
OT: Off Topic things please use the standard OT: symbol at the start of the subject line.
Links: If you have some interesting links and would like them added to the site put LINKS in the front of the subject line to alert people and the links moderator. e.g., LINKS: free ag books
Please do not write in ALL CAPS. If you prefer using only one case then take a lead from e. e. cummings and go with lowercase. Historically on the Internet all uppercase is interpreted as shouting and it is harder to read than mixed case or even lower case. Just click off that ALL CAPS button on the keyboard.
No tail biting, no ear pulling, no nipping, no flaming, no nastiness. There is enough good grazing for everyone to have full bellies. Enjoy the pasture, savor the flavor of grasses, clover and apples....
After you've had a chance to visit a little please do take a moment to post an introduction about yourself.
Let's have some great informative discussions!
