Who would be interested in buying green tripe from Bravo, by the
sleeve, and what size sleeve? They come in 2 and 5 lb sizes I think.
I don't mind buying the case(s) and dividing it up for you. Let me
know and I can order on the next order.

Amanda, if I knew what they were buying, as far as what the mix
consists of, I could grind and mix it, and store what they didn't want
immediately, as long as I knew I could sell it. I am packaging the
blends in any size from 1 - 5 pound bags. With doing custom blends, I
don't know that anyone else will want the same blend. If I knew they
bought the same blend and had a few different people who bought it, I
could do a batch of it and just save the excess til they wanted it. I
just don't want to store ground mixes for months at a time.

Kathy -
Perhaps as your group grows you'll end up with folks with small dogs
or cats who would have an interest in buying Bravo green tripe by the
sleeve. I'm probably a bit odd that I've got bigger dogs but with
the variety I feed them and my freezer constraints, I would be
willing to pay a bit to buy it by the sleeve. Also, I've got some
clients that buy the frozen raw prepared diets for their cats. I've
got no idea how much they pay for it... I wonder if you ended up
with a bunch of cat clients if it may be worthwhile to do some sort
of mix for them - just thinking that 30# of mix for someone with a
couple of cats is a huge amount of food! Just food for thought for
you as your business grows!

liver; 2 lbs of chicken gizzards; 2 lbs of chicken hearts; 1 lbs of

These items will be frozen solid at delivery point, correct? To the

On the ground mixes, I have to have a minimum order to make it
efficient to grind, mix, regrind, bag, dissassemble and clean the
grinder, clean and disinfect the work area and reassemble the grinder
for the next batch. If enough people start ordering the same mixtures,
I could probably decrease the minimum amount. If anyone wants to order
by the case, on items that are not ground, that is fine. Most of the

Keep in mind most of the non ground meats come in bulk packs. 40#, 15#
in one big bag, inside the box. I am repackaging it into freezer bags
for ease of storage and use.
If there are enough people who would like to get tripe or other items

Amanda, Kathy is selling her meat by 30lbs cases not 40 like Becky.  Maybe you can fit less meat in the order.

Kathy -
Sometimes I have difficulty stuffing a whole case of Bravo tripe
ordered from Becky in my freezer.  Would you consider selling it by the
sleeve?  Clearly you would have to mark it up to compensate for your
efforts in getting it!  Or are you trying to stick to the one Vendor
you currently buy from?  Perhaps you can't answer this until you get a
better sense of what your clients want to buy from you, etc.?

I have divided the product/price list into 3 separate database files,
pork, chicken and beef. Thanks for the suggestion Sally. That was a
great idea. As far as dehydrated items, those run $1.00 an ouce. I
didn't realize how much moisture was in raw meat, until I weighed
some before and after dehydrating. Now I understand why my dogs
drink so much less water now, than when they were on kibble. It
takes a couple of days to dehydrate most things. I don't use
preservatives on anything, not even salt, so the dehydrated items
have to be refrigerated until used and can be frozen, for longer
storage. If anyone is interested in dehydrated, just let me know,
but give me some lead time on that. Other than what is on the
database, I also dehydrate beef flexor tendons and honeycomb tripe.
The tendons that I do are not sliced into small strips, like what you
see in the pet stores, shoe string size, sometimes called flossies.
These are whole tendons, cut in half, lengthwise, and dried for 2-3
days. They are about 8 - 10" long and as big around as your thumb.
My dogs take at least 15 minutes or so to eat one. The honeycomb
tripe is the white tripe you see in the store, cut into chunks and
dried. Dehydrated, it has the consistency of a slightly thicker
potato chip and crunches just like one. My dogs love their tripe
chips. I think the only dehydrated items I have right now are beef
heart, dried with strips of fat on most slices and some tendons.

I can get beef tongue, but it is expensive. I don't know why it costs
so much more than pork tongue. I would have to sell it for $2.10
pound. That's why it is not on the database. If anyone wants it or
wants it included in a blend, I can certainly get it from the same
distributor. I can get anything, other than green tripe, trachea,
things that would never be sold in a grocery store or specialty market
from them. I tried to select the least expensive meats they have, to
include in my product list. The things I can't really afford to feed
to my guys, I don't typically buy, but I certainly can, if someone
wants them.

I buy it wholesale from a local, large meat distributor.  They are a nationwide
meat distributor and their suppliers include Indiana Kitchens, Gold Kist, Pilgrims
Pride, etc.  They sell to local markets, restaurants, etc.  I see their tractor
trailers all over the area delivering the meat.  They have a huge warehouse
that I pick up from.  Yes, it is human grade, USDA inspected.

I just thought of something else - I was telling a friend about your group
and she asked me where your meat comes from? I know it's all human grade
(so USDA inspected, right?) but I didn't know what else to tell her. I can
understand that you wouldn't necessarily want to give out your actual
source, obviously, but can you maybe tell me if it comes from a supermarket
or a meat market or something? Just so I have something to tell her?
Thanks!!

How about if I bring a few of the things that you have never fed over
for you to try, when I deliver your orders? I have been giving some
people a few of the dehydrated treats for them to try, when they pick
up their orders here. That way you can see how it goes and if you and
your pets are comfortable with them, you know you can safely order them
in the future. Let me know what you would like to try. Obviously, it
won't be a lot, but for instance the chicken feet, I can bring at least
enough for each of your pets to have a couple of them. Let me know
what you think.
I realize that I sell some things, that you may not have purchased from
your local market or wherever you buy your raw meat. I just think that
it is very important that we offer our pets as varied a diet as is
possible and that we be comfortable with what we are feeding them.

My neighbor has an 11 year old papillon/chi type mix. He wolfs down
the raw chicken feet. He loves the dehydrated ones as well. What some
people are doing, since they don't want to touch the raw feet, is
having them ground into what they are feeding. I just feed them whole,
raw to my boys, but then they would probably eat me, given the chance.

I'm getting ground whole chickens mixed with up to 10% of liver and kidneys.  I was thinking of those chicken feet too but I have 4 aging Chihuahuas and don't know if they would be able to tackle them.  So I better skip the feet.... LOL
Don't be scared, Lisa....feet are great for their glucosamine content which would be great if your dog(s) are aging.

Hey Kathy,

I noticed the database goes to 2 pages and I wonder if people will
notice there's a page 2? (I almost didn't!) Just an idea, but maybe
have a separate database for each type of meat (chicken, beef, pork
etc)?

Also, what are the prices for your dehydrated treats, do you sell those
too or just make them for your own dogs? Thanks!!

Hello, I'm Kathy and I own Raw 4 Pets in Longwood. We are buying raw
meats and organ meats, wholesale, from a local meat distributor. The
meat is all human grade, USDA inspected, and sold to local markets,
restaurants, etc. I purchase the meat, in multiple case quantities,
repackage it, if you want a smaller quantity than case size, and freeze
it. If you purchase ground products, those are ground, mixed per your
specifications and packaged in 1, 2 or 5lb bags and frozen. You can
choose your own custom mixture for the ground products. If you want
75% whole ground chicken w/bones, 5% chicken feet, 10% pork liver and
10% beef kidney, that is what you will get. We offer pickup at our
home and delivery in the central florida area for a small fee. We are
getting enough of a customer base, to allow us to group deliveries to
some areas, saving us all money. My phone number is 407-948-6363,
EMail is kluca@.... Feel free to call or write me with any
questions, comments or to place an order. Our Product/Price List is on
the database. Just click on database on the left and you can review
what we sell and for how much.
