We support herpetoculture, which encompasses the study, care, maintenance and propagation of amphibians and reptiles. We strive to educate people about the proper care and requirements of herps. By promoting captive breeding, some animal collection pressure is taken off wild populations and, hopefully, self-sustaining captive populations can exist, reducing the demand for animals collected out of the wild. In addition, the SDHS gets involved with legislative issues affecting your rights to keep amphibians and reptiles.
