Here's a link to images of normal and abnormal chicken poop.
It sounds like you are seeing normal ceacal droppings.

Hi all,
I'm raising four chicks for a backyard flock. I bought them all from a local
feed store. Three of them were just a few days old and one of them was a week or
two old when I purchased them, and the feed store said they all came from one of
the major hatcheries.
They are all eating and growing normally, i think, but they seem to have
intermittent diarreah every other day or so. Some normal poops, then some runny
ones, then back to normal. The runny ones range in color from brown to a sort of
tan/orange. Is this unusal for chicks who are now 4-6 weeks old?
They are fed a commercially- made balanced chick starter.
Thank you for any insights.
