Shiba owners like myself. I've rescued a 5-6mos old Shiba male. Animal contoll
said he was a stray out in the Indio CA dessert community. We brought him home
2days ago in the evening. He appeared fine and in happy spirits. However this
morning when he woke up, he started to make this somewhat deep, heavy breathing
sounds quite a few times. I asked my partner if shed heard him do that before,
and she said yes, the previous morning. She said she's only heard him breath
that way in the mornings right when he wakes up, and as the morning progresses
it stops. I'm usually around him in the evenings when I get home from work, and
I've not heard him breath that way. I see him in the mornings but only for an
hour or two and i'd not heard it til this morning when I woke up by the sound of
the deep heavy breathing he was making.

concerned??? HELPPPPPPP

Thank you all for the quick responses. I have since taken "Sam" to the vet. We
were told he has a reverse sneeze. From being out in the streets then to the
kennel, he picked up some tiny parasites that have gone up his nose. The vet
prescribed "Revolution" and said that should clear it up. In the event that it
doesn't, she said to give him some children Benadryl. She checked his heart said
he has a good heart beat. I asked the vet if it was possible Sam contracted what
is called a "kennel cough" she said from the way she heard him, its definitely a
reverse sneeze.
