I need advice on preparing to speak to young kids about rabbits   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #73939 of 75097 |

Hello,

My name is Kalish. I am 21 years old. I sold some bunnies to a pet store
and they asked me if I would do a clinic for teaching kids about rabbits. I
have been raising rabbits more than half my life for my own showing, so I
know a lot. I did one of these clinics a few weeks ago and I held the kids
attention for a little while there but eventually lost them.

Does anyone have advice on teaching kids about rabbits for 30 minutes to
an Hour? Kids were 4-7 yrs old.

They have asked me to come back. Considering the ages, I need to know how
to talk to the kids about rabbits in a way they will understand. Any
advice would be greatly appreciated!

I agree - 30 minutes is a long time for a 4-7 year old. Use this time to show how to pick up the rabbit, what NOT to feed it, etc. (the bare basics) - then...

4-7 yr olds aren't going to have really long attention spans. Is there anyway you could have them rotate to stations? Maybe get a few other adults to help. ...

I've been doing these kinds of clinics for a long time. However, you need to know that holding the attention of any child under the age of 6 for even a 1/2...
