Hi - I used to have 2 horses boarded at Hunt View Farm in Poolesville.  Carlos Torres is great.  Very laid back but good care.  There is both field board and stall board.  I do not now what the availability is right now.  The website is http://huntviewfarm.net/  Give Carlos a call and go visit.  I agree there are alot of great stables.  Good Luck.  -Susie

Welcome!  If you are in Bethesda, you might also want to consider Potomac as you can get there very easily on River Road.  Just a Dream Stables is a nice little barn - small and private; good outdoor ring but not fancy facilities and no indoor.  She might well be open to some work for board credit arrangement.  They do have good turnout and access to some trails.  Kitten Boyland who runs the farm keeps a sharp eye on the horses and knows her stuff.  301-948-7605.  We board in Poolesville and have great facilities and excellent turnout and an option to work for board credit but that might be a bit far for you.  We are at Ballyclare Farm.  www.ballyclarefarm. com.  There are many stables in the Potomac area.  Karen

Hi there

I hope you don't mind me joining this group, I was kindly recommended by a friend. I'm moving my horse out from the UK to Maryland next year. I will be living in Bethesda, and commuting into DC for work. Does anyone have any recommendations as to good places to board? I'm ideally not looking to drive further than 15 miles maximum with time constrictions etc. I'm looking for stall board, but with the option of self care if possible.

Grateful for any advice.

Many thanks,

Rosie

Hi Rosie- welcome to the group. I live in Bethesda too. If you have
been to Bethesda you know its an urban area so you will have to drive
some to get a good place for your horse with decent turnout.

I board my horse board near Waredaca stable which is 17 miles from my
house. Its a great stable- I was on the waiting list for years for
field board as were several of my friends but its very popular (backs
up onto a state park) for trail riders and well run and the field board
list keeps growing and we never made it to the top of the list. But, I
know several people who have gotten stall board so those openings must
come up more frequently. They do eventing at this barn but there are
trail riders too. http://www.waredaca.com/

FYI- There are two closer stables to Bethesda. Meadowbrook is in
Bethesda but they do not have pasture and I consider that unacceptable
so I did not even consider them. Wheaton stables is close but they also
have no pasture. These two are hack barns and I would stay away from
them if I were you. The barns nearest to you are going to be hack barns
with no turnout because they are in the city. Rock Creek stables is
another one.

There are alot of stables in the Waredaca area with full stall board
but Waredaca is the only one I personally know. There are several
hunter jumper barns nearby too and a dressage barn. Most barns here
sort of specialize in a discipline.

What type of barn are you looking for?
