This site is dedicated to Timothy Treadwell. I am highly aware of the controversies surrounding his perception of bear conservation and his efforts to be heard. If you dig, there is plenty of information on Tim and on my and other's opinions. With that said...
In 2006, I became motivated by Treadwell to continue with part of his vision. I set out on my own to experience and learn as much as I could about Grizzlies. I was invited out to Alberta by a man Tim often confided in and looked up to. I then took a few trips out to Glacier, Waterton and Yellowstone with and without other "bear" people to observe what was going on between bears and people, bears and photographer's, and bear management. I have met with a few biologists in their respective regions, been to bear management meetings and have worked in BC for a Grizzly/Black Bear rehab and release facility. Eventually making my way to Tim's area in Alaska.
My intention is not to emulate Tim, but to show a positive example of the inspiration he has left behind. I have been greeted w/ the same disdain. Learning from Tim, I choose to handle it differently and hope to see that they may choose to learn from their mistakes. Closing people out, only causes rebellion and ire. They aided in causing exactly what they had wished to avoid...
