A FORUM FOR THE CONSERVATION,
CAPTIVE CARE AND BREEDING OF
TORTOISES IN THE UNITED KINGDOM..
....Mainly "TESTUDO" species.
The Tortoise is one of the world's oldest
survivors and has, in fact, lived on the
Earth since the dawn of the age of reptiles
over 200 million years ago. Unhappily their
numbers are now dwindling due to the pet
trade and the destruction of their natural
habitat. Britain used to import them in hundreds
of thousands annually, but in spite of a life
span that should be well over 100 years, about 98% of those tortoises are now dead.
The aim of this list is to try and preserve as many of the remaining ones as possible.
"WITH YOUR HELP AND INTEREST, THIS CAN BE ACHIEVED".
There are only a few rules to this list. Please take time to read them!
1. We would like you to introduce yourself to the list,
and give us a little information about yourself, your
relative experience, and what species of tortoises you
have or are hoping to get.
2. Open, frank, interesting discussions are welcome and
encouraged, differences of opinion on all Chelonia
topics can be aired and discussed. Flaming, fighting,
name calling general disruption of the list will "NOT"
be tolerated, offenders "WILL" be removed.
3. "SPAM" will not be tolerated offenders "WILL" be removed
and relevent action taken.
Please make full use of this list and all of its facilities.
