I use a cool pad in crates - they fold up really tiny and flat, but you soak them in the tub overnight and they expand and get fluffy. They work really well....

They have them on the Clean Run website. They help my dogs somewhat, but they dry out pretty fast. You'd have to be able to carry enough water to rewet them...
