Alley, affectionately known as "kitten," ran out of the house on Saturday,
November 7th. She is a brown tabby, about 2 years old, and is spayed. She is
nervous around strangers and does not like to be picked up by someone she
doesn't know. She lives at the townhouse community, The Oaks at Hope Valley, on
Hwy 751 near Swarthmore and across the street from the fire station. She is
loved and missed, so any information would be greatly appreciated! Please see
her picture under "Photos." Please call Erika at 919-491-9591 or Chris at
919-259-4056. Thank you so much for your help!

Male black and white kitten has been hanging out in our back yard since
approximately Oct. 14. Appears to be between 6-9 months old. Very skittish to
begin with, but has warmed up to me since I started feeding it regularly. This
is in the Booker Creek neighborhood, off of Weaver Dairy Rd.
we need NORTH CAROLINA fosters for the below, please circulate around North Carolina.
Dear Carolina Care Bullies Fosters, Potential Fosters, & Supporters: Terry and I have been very inspired by the work of Hello Bully and New Hope Pit Bull Rescueover the past few months, and thanks to their recent efforts in rescuing and rehabilitating the Missouri Bust Dogs, we have decided that we too would like to become involved with pulling a dog from the largest dog fighting raid in U.S. history. You all know the unfortunate state of pit bulls in North Carolina, so you may ask yourself "Why do you want a Missouri dog, when there are so many in your home state that need you?"
Honestly, at first we did not understand the reasoning behind helping these dogs this ourselves. But, there IS a reason to help these dogs that benefits us locally. We need to make a change in the way 'bust dogs' are viewed here in North Carolina.
Did you know that back in October, nearly 30 dogs were seizedfrom a property in Haw River, the very town where we live? Did you know that we tried to help? Did you know that we never received a reply? Did you know we have been told by insider sources that these dogs will most likely not make it out alive? Once a pit bull is siezed from a dog-fighting ring, small-town minded state officials deem these dogs unadoptable, mistakenly linking their dog aggression to human aggression. HSUS North Carolina Representative Robert Reder tells us that "North Carolina has long been notorious as a hub of illegal dogfighting activity. Many of the biggest names in underground, illegal dogfighting—as well as smaller, 'hobby' dogfighters—hail from North Carolina." Most of these dogs are without a chance because they are pit bulls and victims of cruelty. These busts are more than just "dog fight busts." They are cruelty cases. But sadly for many, the "dog fight bust" term holds people back from helping. It introduces negative connotations about these dogs and their temperament. We need to change that.
By stepping out of our immediate area to help with a larger case such as the Missouri-based dog fighting raid, we are introducing new resources to our own area. Dogs from these "fight busts" are not much different than dogs pulled from area shelters. In speaking with other organizations who have helped these dogs, they actually suggest that they are no harder to work with because of their exceptional desire to please their people.
We want to change the negative perception surrounding these dogs. We want to help the public understand just how amazing they are. We want the public to see even MORE dogs come out of these situations earning and wearing their badges of merit by receiving their Canine Good Citizen certification, becoming therapy dogs, and even simply becoming cherished family pets that can present themselves as breed ambassadors.
We hope by taking a few dogs from MO or another "fight bust" and showing the individuals in our area, in the southern states, that these dogs CAN and DO make great companions, regardless of their past will be enough to save SO many more here, that may not have had the opportunity before. It's about changing perception and moving away from the common stereotypes.
The Missouri dogs, if released from the courts, will need to have rescue ready for them. If you can open your home to a dog in need, please email us at carebullies@... We need people to commit NOW because we will only have one opportunity to save these dogs.
