Description

The UVB_Meter_Owners group is a group formed to test common UVB sources for keeping reptiles. Testing is done with the Solarmeter 6.2 UVB meter primarily. Testing data includes both Mercury Vapor, Fluorescent bulbs, UVB transmission thru glass/screen, and readings on natural sunlight. We look into both the UVB output, decay over time, and longevity of the bulbs. New data is constantly coming to light in this rapidly growing area of reptile husbandry.

Ownership of a UVB Meter is not required to join this group. The group is formed to encourage learning about one of the most important aspects of care for our reptiles. The keepers on the group share a largevariety of species under their care.. UVA and UVC data is also discussed.

New members are encouraged to read thru some of the archives and check the files section for important data that has been previously gathered.

We are a friendly, open group. Discussion should be kept friendly and professional. Flames and trolls will not be tolerated. Advertising and spam is not allowed. Off-Topic posts should be labeled as OT and preferably reptile related. Questions? UVB_Meter_Owners-owner@yahoogroups.com

Best uv setup for desert dwellers
Hi, I'm currently looking for new bulbs for my Uromastyx and small monitors. I'd prefer a good bulb that puts out a reasonable amount of heat plus enough UV.

Hi Mike, I have an original 6.5 meter (actually it was a 6.4 D3 meter before conversion). I use the sun to make sure its "within reason". I get between a 35 to

Thanks a lot! I´ve made comparison under MH, MV and CFL lamp, not to sun - I had to sent the new meter away already, so I will send it to you for calibration.
