You're welcome Ann. I totally agree. I started a group too that helps
people place pets in loving homes and so far in the past two months
we've placed 2 dogs, 5 cats and 10 hamsters. It's a start and not a
bad one either :) I hope we're able to place even more pets into
loving homes

I fed her some of that 8 in 1 stuff that Wal Mart sells and then I
also gave her these yougarts I get at PetsMart along with some Kaytee
brand alfalfa hay and a baby carrot every once in awhile.  I almost
didn't feed the 8 in 1 stuff but Mink loved it and she did great on
it. I plan on feeding my new Hammie the same stuff since I've had
good results in the past.

I have heard of this too. While I do agree that some Petco stores are
this way there are some that are not this way. There is a PetCo that
I go to that takes wonderful care of all their animals. Infact I got
a hamster that I named Mink there a long time ago and she was well
taken care of while there, they fed her well and took care of her and
even played with her. Mink lived to be 4 years! That is great for a
hamster. I think Petco is like most companies where sometimes a few
bad stores end up runing everything.

You might try looking on Petfinder.com My dog Wheezie was on there
and that's how I found her. The poor girl had goten pregnant and was
dumped then was living on the streets. She'd been at the shelter
since Jan. 2004. I wanted to get her then and I had been to see her
several times but was afraid to because I'd never had that large of a
dog since She's a 60 pound Blood Hound Mix
. Anyway to make a long story short.. She was adopted twice and
brough back twice, both times for reasons that weren't her fault. The
last time she was brought back was June 29th. I'd had enough of the
poor girl going in and out of the shelter and felt it was destiny
that she come home with me. I emailed and called the shelter and went
on Aug. 2nd to see her and ask her if she wanted to come home with
me. She was so happy and she's loved living here and I've NEVER
regreated adopting her!

If anyone near Dallas, Texas or Rowlett, Texas or near Rowlett, Texas
wants a free hamster the Rowlett Animal Shelter on 4402 Industrial
Street Phone 972-412-6219 had about 6 of them left and they are
letting you adopt them for free. The hamsters are about 2 months old
and mostly males are left with a couple of females. They have all
differnt kinds and colors of cute hamsters.
I got mine yesterday :) He's a cute little boy and is pretty shy but
doing good so far.

Hello all I'm new to the group. My name is Susan, I'm a pet lover and
I have two cats. They are Katie who is 13 years old and Luke who is 8
years old. I also have two dogs. Molly who is 2 years and my recent
addition to my zoo is a Wheezie who is about 3 years, who I adopted
from my local shelter recently. I also adopted a baby hamster a few
days ago from a local shelter, he is 2 months old. I also have some
fish and 2 frogs.

I and a few other pet lovers have started a non- profit online(at the
moment)group called AdoptionsandRescuesinTexas to help place animals
in Texas into loving homes. We do NOT keep the animals until they
find a good home we only help the person with find their pet a good
home and we help people find a new pet. We will however keep a
Hamster or small bird till it gets a new home but sorry we don't have
room for any others at the moment.

I'm looking forward to geting to know everyone in the group and it's
great that this group has been started!

The puppy is 6 mths old been spayed. natural ears and
tail, has been spayed already and is up to date on
shots. She is sweet sweet sweet...infact her name is honey. But the
woman has a chihuahua that has been her "baby" for quite some time.
They hate each other and fight all the time. And her puppy gets

HI I have stray cats in appartment development where I live. They
need to be taken out from there before animal control officer will
take them and put them to sleep. I already fount place for 4 of them

Stringer is my name and loving is my game. I like nothing better than

Hi I am looking for a home for my shih tzu bichon mix. He has just
turned 2 and is neutered.  He is a great dog and the reason we are
looking for a new home for him is because he does not like sharing
the spotlight with 3 other animals (2 cats and 1 other dog) He is
not aggressive, he just isn't happy, he wants to be the baby in a
household without other pets (mainly dogs).  He gets along well with
kids (he has a 3 year old and 5 year old living in this house with
him). I will post his photo in the photo album under his name, Jack.
We bought him from Lamb's Farm in Gurnee Illinois and I consider him
to be a rare find as this mix of a dog is hard to find :) Anyway, we
are asking $400 in order to recoup some of the money we spent on

I know a young woman in Augusta, Georgia who's being
evicted from her apartment soon.  The landlord has
told her she has until August 11 to get the animals
out of there or he's calling animal control and
reporting her for neglect.  The landlord says she has
not been feeding them or giving them water every day.
I don't know what animal control with do with these
animals if they're seized.  The owner has found a home
for her bird and probably for two of her guinea pigs,
but she needs to find a place for her cat and her
other guinea pigs ASAP.  The animals that need a place
to go are:

Guinea pigs:  There are four, maybe up to six, guinea
pigs that need homes.  The current owner has been
trying to place four of these guinea pigs for months
now and nobody seems to want to adopt them.  I really
hope a rescue group can take them, if there aren't any
private adopters interested.  If no private adopters
want them, and a rescue group can't take them, then
probably at least four of them, maybe all six, are
going to end up at animal control.

1. American crested female - Nibbles is an approx 2
years old gpig.  Very friendly with people, but she
does not like other guinea pigs.  She comes with a
cage, water bottle, food bowl, and igloo.
2. Short hair female - Butters is an approx 2 years
old gpig.  Very friendly with people, but I'm not sure
how she is with other gpigs.  She comes with a cage,
water bottle, food bowl, and igloo.
3. Short hair & semi long hair males - These two males
have been living together for almost a year.  The
short hair, Bandit, is very sweet and he loves being
held.  The semi long hair, Bob, is a little wilder, so
these boys needs a home without young kids.  They're
both around 1.5 years old.  They come with a cage,
water bottle, food bowl, and wooden house.
4. American cresteds - The two that *might* have a
place to go (but that's not certain yet) are American
cresteds, a brother (Norman) and sister (Prissy) pair
between 2 and 3 years old, and both friendly.  Norman
is neutered.  They come with a cage, water bottle,
food bowl, and igloo.

Since it can be very difficult to get a hold of this
woman, please email me if you can help, and I'll make
sure to get the animals out for you before animal
control seizes them.  I can transport up to about 100
miles away from Augusta.  If they need to go farther
than that, we'll have to work out transport, but we
should be able to arrange something.  I might be able
to hold the guinea pigs and/or cat for a VERY short
amount of time if need be.
