SUN 19 AUG 07

Cool, showers, breezy.

3 Redstart, 4 Spotted Flycatcher, 1 very early Goosander (redhead), 2
Raven, 1 Kestrel, 2 Kingfisher, 31 Sand Martin, 125 House Martin, 2
Red-Legged Partridge, just 1 Blackcap and no Willow Warbler found,
about 20 Chiffchaff.

Nash End: not much.

THU 23 AUG 07

Warm, sunny, windy.

2 Tree Pipit, 2 Redstart, 11 Spotted Flycatcher, 2 Lesser
Whitethroat, 4 Sand Martin, 2 Raven, 1 Kestrel, 1 Heron, 1 Tufted
Duck (unusual).

It was a bit like the "good old days" re autumn Spotted Flycatcher at
the Severn (with several also just north into Shrops).

Something like 14 consecutive years of autumn Redstart in the Borle
Brook area of the Severn.

It was only the second ever year that I've found autumn Tree Pipit
locally. They seem to be quiet and elusive at this time of year – so
they probably occur more often, especially given the strong breeding
population in the Wyre at nearby Buttonoak (Shrops).

Hopefully, more in a month or so.
