This forum is for anyone who needs help or advice on basic or expert care for orphaned and injured wildlife. Though a trained wildlife rehabilitator is always the best solution, there are times when one is not available in your area. Here we hope to answer your questions and give the support your wild charge requires. Welcome new rehabilitators who need a forum where you may openly share ideas and understand solutions. Welcome seasoned rehabilitators who are willing to share methods and advice in simple, non-technical terms and be patient with those who are learning the profession. We hope to better assist the animals by providing a gentle and non judgmental forum in which we all can learn from eachother.
I recommend that all who participate in the list, keep in mind that there is no guarentee that the advice you get is always correct. The prospect in asking questions should be coupled with common sense and further research. This forum is a research tool, not an instruction manual. Gather what info you can from various sources and make an educated decision based on what you have learned to be fact.
When information is given and you feel it is incorrect, remember that we are all always learning. Offer an alternative and explain why it may be a better one without being critical of the former suggestion. There is rarely a good reason to make someone feel badly when they are offering help. We are not in competition here and when we fail eachother, we fail the creatures we all strive to assist. Lets work together to make this a forum where we can all become better helpers, for humans as well as animals.
