Hi everyone!

Alley Cat Allies is seeking some photos of cold weather kitties. You all get a fair amount of snow, so I thought some of you may have some nice photos of the cats you care for in wintery scenes. I have attached (also available at: http://www.alleycat.org/pdf/photo_card_web.pdf) ) a note about guidelines for taking photos for us. I would prefer the cats be eartipped visibly.

Alley Cat Allies will not be paying for the photos and will expect artists to sign a photo release form.

Please send all photos to efullerton@....

Thank you!

Jessica

Hello,
I am a new member and I don't know how to go about getting help with my
3 orphans in seeing a vet with the group. I left a message on the group
message line but havn't heard anything, perhaps I didn't leave my
correct number, or I have dial up.
The babies are about 4 weeks now, I've been caring for them since they
were around one week. Their feral Mom couldn't take care of them any
longer, she has injuries from being hit by a car some years ago.
The babies have some health issues and need to see a vet. I am on a
very fixed income and need assistance with this.
I hope someone can contact me.

Hi Sharon! My name is Kitty and I am also a member of the WisCats group. I am also a cat rescuer from Milw.
I apologize for not getting intouch with you before now. I am not online every day as my home computer hasn't been working now for the past several months, and I don't always get to the library every day to read/respond to all of my emails. I just arrived at the library and just read your posting. Please forgive me for taking this long to get back in touch with you.
If there is anyway you can get your babies down here to my area of the state,(I live in Milwaukee- which is in SouthEastern Wisconsin), I would be very happy to recommend you to take them to the vet I have been seeing for almost the past 9 yrs now. He is one FANTASTIC VET!!!!!
His name is Dr.Sharma and his clinic ("City Animal") is in Glendale, right across the street from BayShore Mall, one block East of Port Washington Rd, on Silverspring. He takes walk-ins as well as appointments, and he also is available 24 hours per day to accept emergency cases. He will allow you to post date checks for payment if needed. If you tell him you know me, he will give you a very reasonable price and a free vet exam.
Anyway, here is his clinic address and phone number- feel free to call him and speak directly to him, mention my name as a referral.I hope this helps you

Kitty,
Thank you so much. However Milwaukee is a long drive and I know the
group in Green Bay has vets they work with. That is only about 20 min
from here. I am very frustrated in trying to get ahold of them. I
have emailed several members and left a voice mail a week ago. They
are having a clinic today for TNR so out of exhaustion and need I was
just going to bring the kittens there as there will be vets, but I
can't find out where it is located, it is not posted on their site.
Very Frustrated.

I feel I must interject here. Cats Anonymous is a terrific group of
volunteers that operates on a less-than-shoestring budget, and there
are HUNDREDS of cats on their waiting list, so they are doing the best
that they can. Please do not insinuate that they are not doing a good
job on this Board. They have made an amazing impact on the feral cat
population in a short time in Northeast Wisconsin.

Many vets offer pay plans that allow you to pay over an extended
period, or you can call around and see if a local vet will take a look
at them out of the kindness of their heart. There are many vets in the
Fox Valley area. You could also consider calling the Oshkosh Humane
Society or Fox Valley Humane Association to see if they might have advice.

If you have a group of feral cats that need to be fixed, I would
recommend adding your name to the Cats Anonymous waiting list.

Best of luck to you.

Thanks Emily,
We do work very hard and try our best.  I did let Sharon down by returning her call 5 days later rather than in 48 hours as we state on our message.  It was a hectic week, as we had a TV interview, volunteer fair, an event at Petco and a Spay day all in that same  5 day period.  I did contact Sharon on Sunday at the conclusion of our spay day.  I also believe one of our Board Members emailed Sharon earlier in the week.  Unfortunately,  discount veterinary care is not something we offer but I hope my recommendations were helpful to her.

Again, Sharon, I do apologize for responding to you later than we normally would.  I hope you'll be willing to join our efforts and become an active volunteer in Cats Anonymous.
Emily, thank you again for putting in a good word on our behalf.  Thank you also for providing Sharon and others some excellent resources.

Happy National Feral Cat Day everyone.  :-)  At the conclusion of our spay day yesterday, Cats Anonymous proudly reports we have spayed/neutered over 600 cats, in this our first year of operation.  We've adopted out 57 kittens and returned 500+ cats to our 102 registered colonies.

Just a friendly reminder to everyone:
Tonight,Oct 28th is the day that daylight savings time ends. Therefore, before you go to bed tonight, don't forget to set your clocks BACK one hour. (gain an extra hour of sleep in the morning-YES!!!!)
If any of you have roommates, it might be a good idea to remind them to also set their clocks/watches back as well. If need be, in case you don't see them before you go to bed, maybe put a note in the middle of each face of each clock letting them know you already set the clocks- that way, they won't accidently  re-set them when they get home. (Believe me, I am talking from personal experience on this one. Several years ago, I had several roommates living with me. They weren't home, I went ahead and re-set the clocks, then left home for the night. I did not leave them a note.
Later on, some of them came home, didn't know what time it was/didn't realize the clocks were set, and they re-set them themselves. They then went to bed. A few hours later, the remaining roomates came home, after a night of parting/drinking, and they set the clocks too!!!! Needless to say, the next morning, none of us knew what the real time was!!!!!
Maybe assign one person in the house to set the clocks or use the suggestion I gave and write the note and put the note in the middle of each face of each clock- maybe write the note on bright colored paper- so at least the note will be more noticeable!!!!
Those of you affected by Daylight Savings Time, don't forget to re-set your clocks beforre bed tonight. Thanks,Kitty in Milw

Hello,

I tend to lurk, but I have a request that hopefully with be sent onto the list.

This cat belongs to one of my clients.  He is a wonderful and loving cat named Rudy.  Rudy is all black with one of his ears a little damaged, but no other physical abnormalities.  He is 11-12 years old and EXTREMELY stressed out in his home right now.  He is so stressed that he is loosing hair!  My client took 3 cats from their daughter while they already had 2 dogs.  1 of the dogs chases Rudy constantly.  Rudy is not allowed to be on the floor when this dog is around.  Rudy is not a very domineering cat, so he tends to take back stage.  When I was watching him, I would try to give him special attention, which he returned with a wonderful back rub!(He comes over and kneads your shoulders...its so cute.)  What my clients would like is to have Rudy go to a home with no other pets (1 very calm pet would probably be ok).

If you would like to take him or know of someone who wants this wonderful cat, please contact me.  There is also another black cat that is very sweet, but on someones door step.  I don't know what is going on with that one and I have no other info about him (when they see that I am pet sitter, people will ask about how they can get rid of this pet or a cat that won't leave their yard, or a pet someone gave them /one they tried to rescue. :(

****Feel free to crosspost this for me and my fiance Ken.****
I apologize for not being online much at all for the past 3 weeks following my fiance's (Ken) major stroke.
However, I do have some VERY HAPPY NEWS and he has a message FOR EVERYONE he wants me to pass on for him.
Ken is still in the ICU unit of the hospital, but he is now in the Rehab unit. He regained his sight in his left eye, he can talk a whole lot more, and he is speaking much more clearly. He is more alert than he was, and is even joking with the nurses/ staff in the hospital. Both physical therapy and speech thearpy are working w/ him 3 times per day helping him re-gain the strength in his legs and arms, and helping him with his speech. He is no longer on feeding tubes, he actually gets to eat his supper in the hospital cafeteria- this way he is forced to use his arms/hands to pick up his food/beverage to eat/drink and he also is able to be around others to fellowship while he eats.
When he first arrived at the hospital, the doctors were trying to tell us that he would be paralyzed for life/never be able to talk again, work again, etc. I heard what the doctor said, but after words, I mentioned to the doctors that God is still in the miracle working ministry today, and in the BIBLE, it says in 2nd Peter that By His stripes,Ken is healed.(The doctors were not Christians and looked at me as if I lost my mind!!)
Well now the doctors are seeing for themselves that God is hearing our prayers and GOD IS ALSO ANSWERING our prayers!!!!! IS HE EVER!
His doctors and nurses and other hopsital staff are VERY AMAZED on how quickly God is healing him. The dopctors are beginning to turn their lives over to Jesus Christ and so is his sister. Praise God!!!!
Ken has this message for EVERYONE and he wants me to pass this on for him:

Thankyou ever so much for ALL of your prayers. I brought him a huge Get-Well card that just about everyone at church had signed. I also told him about all of the Get-Well wishes/prayers I am getting on his behalf via email. He had tears in his eyes when I handed him the get well card and he also cried when I informed him of all the get well wishes/responses I recieved via email. KEN IS EXTREMLY TOUCHED BY THIS and wants to tell EVERYONE THANKYOU EVER SO VERY MUCH. He also wants to wish EVERYONE a very SAFE& BLESSED & HAPPY Thanksgiving.
Thanks again and happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Hi Everyone!!!! ****Please feel free to crosspost this for me******
Here is the update regarding my fiance,Ken.
Last Thursday afternoon, he was released from St.Joes hospital and was transferred to the Marion Franciscon Home(on the far Northwest side of Milwaukee) for  hopefully just  another week or two of more physcial therapy and speech therapy.
So far he is doing EXCELLANT!!!! I seen him this morning, and when I got there, he was in PT. He actually was walking with a special type of walker with wheels!!!! He was doing a fantastic job too!!!!!  Praise God!!!
However, he still asks for your prayers and if anyone of you are in this area, if you can come visit him, this would definatly cheer him up BIG TIME. He is EXTREMLY lonely in that nursing home. If you are unable to come visit him, here is his address and direct phone number- maybe you can call him or write him- even if it is just to say hi, praying for him, thinking about him, wish him a Mery Christmas, etc. *****If you do contact him, please tell him you are one of my many email buddies.*****
Here is his contact info;

Just wanted to give you all the VERY HAPPY news update on Ken's progress:
Yesterday, right before I got inside the library to red/respond to all of my emails(approx 4 weeks behind right now), my cell-phone rang. It was Ken. He had tears of joy in his voice. He surpassed his own goals he set for himself at the nursing home. During PT yesterday, he was able to walk the long hallway back and forth a total of 4 times, plus he was able to do the same thing on the Parrnell bars. He did this EACH time in BOTH physical therapy sessions!!!! plus, on Christmas day, the nursing home is letting him come home for a one-day pass- will need to be back by 9pm, but the BEST news of all, on New Years Eve, he is coming home FOR GOOD!!!!!! Praise God!!!
Just wanted to give you all the very happy update and thankyou for all of your prayers. This is proof, that God just doesn't hear our prayers,He also answers them!!! Power of prayer really does work.
Ken and I would like to wish all of you a very Blessed, safe, and Merry Christmas and the same goes for the entire year of 2007 and beyond.
Our "kitten-cats" would like to wish your kitten-cats a Meowy Cat-mas and a happy Mew year too. Talk again later, computer time is almost up for today. Since the local library is closed all weekend long,I will be off-line until next Tuesday.

I hate to do this, but, I feel as if I have no other choice as this is really bothering the heck out of me.
On this past Sunday afternoon,(Dec 24th), I was travelling on Sherman Blvd, near Hampton Ave, and came across a cat that was hit by a car. I have no idea if the cat was owned by anyone or if it was a feral/ stray cat.
Whomever hit the cat, did not stop- just hit the cat and kept driving.
Needless to say, my blood is REALLY BOILING. I immediatly stopped the car, checked if the cat was breathing or had a pulse- it did not- so I began CPR compressions. I could not do the mouth to mouth on it as the poor cat was bleeding very heavily in its mouth. I had my cat carrier in my car, and placed the cat in the carrier and litterally sped as fast as I could to get the poor cat to see a doctor at the 24 hour Animal Emergency Clinic on 21st & SilverSpring for emergency care- but unfortunatly, I didn't get the poor cat to the emergency vet fast enough. He passed away shortly after I ran in the door with him.
Doe this cat belong to you? If not, do you know who he might have belonged to?? If this poor cat had any humans, I would like to give them the news regarding their cat. This cat had no collar or tags and he wasn't microchipped neither. I will be running an ad in the paper- but in case the cats owner doesn't subscribe to the paper, can you please help me get the word out?
This pretty much ruined my Christmas holiday weekend, can't stop thinking about this poor cat.
Gosh, how I wish people would keep a closer eye on their animal companions, and keep them indoors- to help avoid needless tradegies, such as this one, from happening in the first place. I also wish more people would get their pets microchipped and spayed/neutered- then if their pet(s) should sneak outdoors and get away from home, their pets, once caught, can be more easily reuinited with their humans.
If this cat was yours or if you know who it might have belonged to, please have them call:
The Animal Emergency Center at 414-540-6710 or call Madacc at 414-649-8640.
Thanks much,Kitty Wuerl in Milw
