Description

This group is for HORSE HOOF TRIMMERS.My method of using a zirconium flap disc instead of the conventional method of knife, rasp, and hoof nippers has many advantages. In most cases, quicker and easier to trim horses with less physical strain on the trimmer and horse. With the flap disc you get precision trimming, harder to duplicate with a knife. Soles become smooth and lump free. The disc is similar to ground abrasion and trims wall, sole, bars, and frog.
Ground abrasion by horse movement is best for horse's hooves.Itinerate horses grow, abrade and harden their hooves daily with movement.Hoof lenght remaims the sam Time permitting,I'd rather exercise my horse barefoot than trim with any tools.
Flap disc/grinder abrasion for domestic horses,IMO is better for the hoof than nipping ,rasping,or cutting it with a knife.IMO it is easier to train a new trimmer with the flap disc/grinder than conventional tools. My posts and photos provide an insight on how one would go about utilizing the discs/grinder for timming horse's feet.
INSTRUCTIONAL FLAP DISC/GRINDER DVD AVAILABLE-Send $35 to :Phil Morarre,2916 Bohemia Ave.,Oroville,Ca,95966
This group will discuss this alternative method (zirconium flap disc)and quality of horse's hooves compared to the conventional method of ( knife, rasp, and nippers)in trimming horse's hooves.PLEASE SEE MY PHOTOS (GETTING STARTED),ALL MY POSTS and PHIL'S DVD,IF YOUR INTERESTED IN TRYING THIS METHOD.Approx.$50.00 for tools and $35 for DVD.
I have read about several kinds of tools (butteris, toeing knives, etc) that have been used to do horse hoof trimming.Over the years these tools have changed, leading to improvements in the work that have helped mankind and the horse alike. This method is an improvement!
