Description

Alaska Honey Bee/Bees!!! This Group is for the serious Alaska beekeeper, no matter whether you are a new beekeeper or one of the oldest of beekeepers, who shares in the belief that Honey Bees should be respected, cared for, kept, and not..k!!!!d intentionally. A group of beekeepers, coming together as a community, we can work together to improve genetics, beekeeping practices and methods of keeping bees for sustainability. Goals are to enhance winter survivability and create increase. My personal goals are working on genetics by breeding from strong survivors, developing wintering techniques, creating increase methods, keeping bees on a natural brood cell size of 4.9mm as the average, and developing harvest methods that leaves the bees enough stores to survive the winter, and only feeding when needed. Priority is Survivability, honeybee breeding, stock increase, and last but not the least is honey and pollen production.

Anyone interested in joining this group should be, but does not have to be, an Alaskan. When subscribing please include your real full name, your general location, a very brief description of your involvement with honey bees, and the email address you want to use to receive and respond to emails.

You can join by subscribing from the Groups internet home web page, subscribing by email using; akbeekeepers-subscribe@yahoogroups.com , emailing the group owner by using this email address; akbeekeepers-owner@yahoogroups.com, or email Keith Malone at klm@gci.net .

You can be proud in joining a group of Apiarians who care and love Apis Mellifera, our beloved honey bee. We are all leaders in a new era of Alaskan Beekeeping.
