Re: [dualbrittanys] Volunteer Brittany Club Walking Trial   Message List

The only thing I would like to add to Ken's post is that I don't know how we
would have survived without Ken Blackman! He came thru as always!!!!Ken's
father died about 1 1/2 weeks before the trial and he had to go home to New York
(?) to take care of arrangements for his funeral, reading of the will, etc. He
left New York Thursday morning before the trial and drove straight thru to
Memphis. I know he must have been exhausted by he still came thru like a
trooper taking care of the fine details that can only be taken care of by
someone in the area and making every participant feel more than welcome! I just
want to make sure Ken gets the credit he deserves!I want to also give a big
Thank You to Jim DeMarco, Dale Pool , JP Weber and Sam Norris who stepped up to
help out when they were needed. You all helped make the trial a big success!!!
With all the terrible weather all around us, we had great weather,
great field conditions and a terrific slate of dogs, handlers and
guests. Some of the locals came out and rode in the gallery. They were
treated to some dog work from breeds that some had never seen. GWP,
GSP, Irish and Gordon Setters, and of course, French Brittanys (and not
mine either). We'd like to thank the land owners, Bill and Alan Currie
for the thier committment to the sport of field trialing and Quail
Restoration. Several years ago they decided to put their 800 Ac, of
Dancyville, TN farmland into the CRP and CP33 program. We haven't seen
lots of reproduction yet, but with controlled burning and stip disking,
everyone agrees the ground work has been laid for an impressive
regeneration of a sustainable Bobwhite population. We are so fortunate
to share the gounds with the West TN and Fayetter Couty Field Trial
Clubs. While we had good quailty stock for our trial, during the prep
work to lay out the courses, my dogs found several wild coveys and they
were the real deal.

Our thanks also to our Judges who, without their time, effort and
dedication, we couldn't have had a trial at all. Steve Butler, Chip
Pantal, Charlie Baglan, Ken Blackman and Rick Crites did a bang up job. Nan
Crites,
Louise Brown, Richard Wiley and Sue Blackman, made sure the food was up
to our traditional standard and a HUGE THANKS to them all.
