This angora rabbit group is for pet owners of English, French, German, Giant and Satin angora rabbits. This group is only for the discussion of owning these breeds of angora rabbits for the purpose of spinning their beautiful fur or just enjoying them as pets not breeding them. No breeding discussions or rabbit sales ads however I will allow those of you who do breed angoras to place your information as well as prices, etc in our files section for those of our members who are looking to purchase an angora and we’ll send them to those files. Feel free to brag, post pictures, share cute stories or ask any questions. There will be no competition allowed here. I don't want to see any posts that state my breed is better than your breed. I've seen enough of that on other groups and won't tolerate it here. As far as each of us is concerned, our rabbits are the best, after all we own them. I will allow posts regarding which breed produces the most fiber as I think that will be helpful to those who are contemplating purchasing an angora as a fiber bunny as well as the breeds that require less/more grooming, etc. and I do encourage breeders to share your expertise in the care of our bunnies but I do want to warn the breeders that our discussions will be silly at times and may get boring for you since we won’t be discussing the technical aspects of breeding but please just bear with us.
Some of the topics we will discuss will include:
Which breed I right for you
Feeding the new bunny and adult
Best size cage for your bunny
Tools
When and how to groom
Plucking and shearing know-how
Nail care
Wool block prevention and remedies
Angoras and hot weather
Behavior
Storing and spinning angora fiber
And so much more...
I will be compiling a list of breeders according to states as well as places where you can get your rabbit supplies and any other helpful sites for rabbit care. Please let me know of any that you run across in your searches.
