Your next agility dog???  :)

Marion

Begin forwarded message:

Dairyland Greyhound Racetrack in Kenosha, Wisconsin will be closing on
December 31,
 2009.

900 Greyhounds will need to be adopted otherwise they will be euthanized.
Now is a great time to consider adopting a Greyhound.

They are very loving and laid back. They don’t need the space people think
they need. They are great for an inactive family because they have been
crated almost all their lives and they sleep about 18 out of the 24 hours
a day.

They are just looking for someone to love them and supply them with a warm
bed!!!!

They test the dogs to see if they are cat friendly and or small dog
friendly. They also know if a dog should be a single dog or if they would
be great in a 2, 3, or 4 dog house!!!

Please help me get the word out; we only have 6 weeks to get this task done.

This is the most serious request for help I have put out simply given the sheer numbers of dogs - 900  [that's hundred] - that need to find homes or they will be killed!

Action is needed quickly as the racetrack is closing in about six weeks.

If you know of anyone who might want a loving, easy-to-care-for dog, greyhounds known as 40-mile-per-hour couch potatoes - please send this notice out to them.

If you are involved in a rescue group, please cross-post this with other groups.

In all cases please contact:

Joanne Kehoe

Any help will be greatly appreciated, mainly by these doggies.

Dog Star North and South would like to invite Got Dog? trialers to their traditional LaQuinta potluck Saturday evening after the Got Dog? trial.  The theme is "chili".  Rhonda Coguill reserved the big room downstairs at LaQuinta, which has a kitchen and lots of room.  You don't need to email us to let us know whether or not you're coming.  You can "just come and have some fun with us".

Rock on everyone!!  Have a great Thanksgiving.

That's a great idea - and I would think that if we announced this on the NADAC

I have to agree with doug’s comment.  The first weekend of November the marines had a toys for tots collection site up in the mall.  Last year one of the local tv stations was a drop off point for an extended period of time before Christmas.  If anyone caught the news last night, there was a short blurb about folks who used to be donators to the local food, now being recipients of those benefits.  I think we have a lot of needy families locally.

Dangers of Dog Hair -

Urgent Notice: Potential Danger of Dog Hair.....

In a press release today, the National Institute of Health has announced the
discovery of a potentially dangerous substance in the hair of dogs. This
substance, called "amobacter caninii" has been linked with the following
symptoms in females: Reluctance to cook, clean or do housework, a reluctance
to wear make-up, good clothes or high heels heels. Reluctance to spend money
on home or car repairs until after 'Baby' has new collars, leashes, beds,
treats, food, blankets or toys.

"Amobacter caninii" usually results in long hours away from home and
exhaustion which may lead to a loss of physical contact with other humans
(especially husbands and boyfriends). "Amobacter caninii" is thought to be
addictive, driving the need for additional sources - this may lead to a
pack mentality" or like the potato chip commercial, "you can't have just one
. Beware! If you come in contact with a female human infected by this
substance, be prepared to talk about dogs for hours.

Surgeon General's Warning: Dogs are expensive, addictive, and may impair the
ability to use common sense.

Hi all,

I have a housebound, elderly friend who needs a small lap dog to keep her company. She lives in a rural area away from traffic, has a fenced yard & has had dogs her entire life so is an experienced pet owner. Her animals have always been her "kids" so it would be a great home for a dog. The dog would have to be housebroken and an expert at sitting in a lap and being petted.

Please contact me for more information or if you know of a dog available with this MO

Thanks, Nola

Sorry for the delay, but school's been keeping me busy. The pictures from the October trial in Helena are up on dogshots.biz.

Some of them, particularly on Saturday, are way overexposed and bright. If you like the picture but it's too bright, let me know Because of the format in which I take the pictures I can probably fix it. I did not fix any of them, because in the interests of time I wanted to get them posted.

Just let me know if you want to buy some pictures, but they are too bright. I will fix it before I send it out.

Again, if there is anyone you know that was at the trial but is not on this list, I'd appreciate if if you told them about the pictures being online.

I've updated the web page for the October trial. If you have videos that you
would like to add, you can upload them to YouTube and send me the link, or get
them to me and I'll upload them to YouTube. If a professional business took the
video, please send the name so that I can give credit.

Thanks.

Headed to billings tomorrow and back tomorrow.  Am taking a rental car and would need a crate that would fit in the back seat.  Would need to meet someone in the afternoon, probably about 3:00 or so to pick up the dog.

Hello,

A work friend of Doug's is adopting one of the English Shepherds. The dog
currently lives in Billings and is looking for a ride to Helena to be with her
new family.

Let me know if you are going to the Billings NADAC trial and if you have room
to bring her back. She looks to be medium sized - maybe around 50 lbs. You
can also contact Daryl (new owner) directly at Daryl.Cain@.... I can lend
a crate if needed.

Thanks,
Heidi

For those of you not on the NADAC Yahoo – or skipped this one –

Per Sharon

If the jumps have a solid "base" on them so that the jumps cannot spread,
then you are correct, you only need to use one bar and the ground base
serves as the second bar.....

So we can double the number of jumps we have and don’t need to get any more bars J
