The Awesome Silkie Bantam Chat is one of the best places to learn about Silkies. We are a large and diverse group with champion Silkie breeders, Silkie club officers, backyard flock owners, and people with no Silkies at all.

We are a friendly bunch of people who share a love to raise, learn, and talk about Silkies. Because our Silkie Group is the oldest, largest, and most diverse, we hear many many different points of view. We peacefully disagree on heated issues, we haven’t yet heard a dumb question, and above all we value beginners. Beginners have a fresh point of view that often teaches something to the most experienced Silkie breeders.

Our main focus is not showing Silkies; it is raising healthy, alert, and happy Silkies. We do raise Silkies to “the standard” but there is no worldwide definition of a perfect Silkie and standards are open to interpretation. Europe has Silkies in bantam and standard sizes and disqualifies birds with overly large crests. The United States has only a mid sized “bantam Silkie” with a new trend toward massive crests.
