FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
2009 PUPPYMILL AWARENESS DAY
MARCH AGAINST CRUELTY
Please…..HELP US SAVE THEM
(Intercourse Community Park, Old Philadelphia Pike, Leacock Township, PA) – The Puppy Mill Awareness Day (PMAD) organization is proud to announce our 6th annual PUPPYMILL AWARENESS DAY on Saturday, September 19, 2009 (rain or shine) from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Intercourse Community Park in Intercourse, PA. 2009 PMAD sponsors are Adopt A Pet, Last Chance for Animals and the Humane Society of the United States. Special guests include Victoria Stilwell of “Its Me or the Dog”, New York’s Rescue Ink, President of Last Chance for Animals Chris DeRose, and Stephanie Shain, Senior
Director of the HSUS Puppy Mill Campaign.
PMAD is committed to educating the public regarding the cruelty within puppy mills and commercial breeding facilities. Our goal is to not only expose Pennsylvania’s “dirty little secret” but to draw attention to other areas of our country where puppy mills are a problem. These areas include Missouri, Kansas, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas and Tennessee. As a society we must find permanent solutions to help the current abused puppy mill dogs and prevent future mill dog abuse. PMAD also wants to bring attention to
“Pennsylvania grown” produce which is contaminated by using dog feces and dog bodies as fertilizer.
With Pennsylvania as PMAD’s flagship event we are committed to calling for the state of Pennsylvania to prohibit approval of new puppy mills, to adequately monitor operation of existing puppy mills and to promptly close down mills not in complete compliance with Federal and State laws. Puppy mills (breeding facilities which mass produce purebred puppies) have become a booming business in
Please spread the word about Puppy Mill Awareness Day as well as PMAD’s first annual “Dog Auction”
On Friday night, September 18th at 7:00 PM. PMAD defines “Dog Auction” as dogs helping dogs. Come and bid on the art work created by puppy mill survivors to raise money to help those that they have left
Behind. We promise that there will be laughter through tears at this event as Bruce Feinberg of Rescue Ink (and the Rescue Ink crew) will be our auctioneer. Please visit our website at www.awarenessday.org to purchase a ticket and view details for this very special event.
PMAD anticipates an enormous turnout for this event and invites and encourages the public to attend. As a society we can make a difference and stop the cruelty. Nonprofit groups and rescues from all over the country will be represented at this event. Is a rescue dog part of your family? Come and join the Rescue Parade where we celebrate dogs! PMAD will share rescue dog stories and give out prizes to all dogs enrolled in the parade. Don’t forget the March Against Cruelty. A pet photographer will be on site all day for portraits of your special family members.
