if you are able to take any of these dogs into your rescue/adoption programs!

The Marshall Missouri Veterinary Clinic is pleading for your help in placing 24 very sweet mill survivors into rescue. Pictures may be available after Thursday 11/19, or Amy at the clinic might be able to send pictures via her cell phone.

The following dogs need to be placed into rescue by Wednesday 11/25! Each holiday season this tiny rural clinic also takes in dogs for boarding while their owners are out of town. Now that we are heading into the winter months, it will soon be too cold to kennel dogs outdoors.

 1   Beagle
 1   Chinese Sharpei
 1   Cocker Spaniel
10  Italian Greyhound puppies New Arrivals
  2  Miniature Pinschers New Arrivals
6  Miniature Schnauzers 2 Salt & Pepper are New Arrivals
  2  Pekingese New Arrivals
  1  Shih Tzu

The longer coated breeds will be in need of bathing and grooming.
Details are attached below at the end of this post along with rescue transport contacts.

The Beagle, Cocker, Chinese Sharpei, 4 of the Miniature Schnauzers and the Shih Tzu have been waiting for a very long time for rescue placement. We have absolutely no idea why they have been over looked because they are showing great promise with their friendly temperaments and eagerness to get on with life!

The Marshall Missouri Veterinary Clinic is very conveniently located midway between Kansas City and St. Louis, approximately 10 miles north of the I-70 & Highway 65 junction. A list of possible transport services is also attached below. Some of these services are free while others are not. The clinic staff may also be able to offer transport assistance suggestions.

All dogs will be spayed/neutered with rabies vaccination before release. It is suggested that dentals and ear flushings be done while the dog is under anesthesia for their spay/neuter, so please state if you wish these services to be done when you contact the clinic. Additional very rescue friendly veterinary services are available upon request.

The clinic strongly recommends that all commercially bred dogs be tested for Bruscellosis before release. Bruscellosis is contagious to other animals and humans. http://www.azdhs.gov/phs/oids/vector/bruc/pdf/bruc_qa_vets.pdf The cost for testing is nominal.

If you or anyone you know can help the clinic staff by taking any of these dogs into your rescue programs, please call the clinic as soon as possible.

Tri-Color
5-6 years old
Approx. 25 lbs.
This shy but very sweet girl originally came to the clinic with her best friend, another gorgeous tri-color Beagle. He has since found his way to placement with rescue, but this poor baby has been left behind. No one at the clinic understands why such a sweet dog has been overlooked. She is very lonely without her best friend, and desperately searchs for him every day. Please, she too deserves a chance to find her way into the arms of a loving family who will cherish her forever and ever!

Born 2007
Grizzle (Brindle) & White
Approx. 14 lbs.
This little girl is extremely happy, friendly and loves to run, jump and play! If someone out there is willing to take her into their rescue foster program where she can fully recover, it is a given that she will someday very soon fill some lucky family's life with much joy and love for many, many years!
She was diagnosed with Demodectic mange and has been treated for it. Her coat is still very sparse, but is beginning to grow back. Demodectic mange (unlike Sarcoptic mange) is not considered a contagious disease, and isolation of affected dogs is generally not considered necessary. That said, there are some circumstances under which the mites could spread from one dog to another. Please read the following article: http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_demodectic_mange.html

Linda,

This is a 5 year old female beagle. She is very sweet, I believe she is house broken. She is crate trained.
I don't know if she is spayed or up to date on her vaccines, the owner doesn't know.
The owner is my neighbor, the dog was given to him he does not like her and was going to call animal control. I convinced him to wait before doing so and let me call rescues to see if I could get her help. Another neighbor is feeding her. She is on a chain in his back yard. He is willing to leave her there while I try to find her a home and the neighbor continues to feed her. It is not the best situation for her.

If you can help this sweet girl--it would be great.

A 16 year old boy found this sweet mom nursing her six babies in the woods in Helena, AL.  A man who lives in a shack built in the 1800?s claimed the animals but was glad to relinquish them. The mother could not have a more gentle spirit. There are four boys and two girls. They need a safe and warm place to go. For more information, please contact me. Thank you and God bless.

To anyone who ...can help Lucy:

This is Lucy. Lucy is a 9-10 year old beagle who was dumped by a
dumpster, emaciated when she was about 2.5. Someone found her and took
her in and loved... her to pieces until the woman passed away.

The woman died in January '09 and Lucy has been in the house ALONE
since then. The 2 older married children can not take her. I know the
daughter has a "cardiac" child. I don't know about the other kid.
Because of their guilt, they over feed Lucy, so she needs to lose
weight, but other than that, is healthy and current on her shots, etc.

Lucy is happy and playful normally- but because of this, she is very
depressed, understandably. She has been peeing on wee wee pads
because someone only goes there once a day.

I am so sick over this.

Could you pass this on. Maybe we can get Lucy a home for thanksgiving?

I tried Beagle rescue and they don't take seniors.

Anyone else? We can get the dog to wherever, we will make it work,
just please... someone, help get Lucy home.

I would have taken her 3 days ago when I found out about her, but
Teddy is not other breed safe.

Surely, someone knows someone who can give her a forever home.

Little Chunks is a beagle/hound mix that came to ACCT as a stray. He's shy and needs a little time to warm up to new people and doesn't demand a whole lot of attention. He enjoys sniffing around and taking naps in the sun. Chunks walks well on a leash and seems to get along with most other dogs.

A 16 year old boy found this sweet mom nursing her six babies in the woods in Helena, AL.  A man who lives in a shack built in the 1800’s claimed the animals but was glad to relinquish them. The mother could not have a more gentle spirit. There are four boys and two girls. They need a safe and warm place to go. For more information, please contact me. Thank you and God bless.

Subject: free beagle Puppies (Important...please read!

Dear friends,
These sweet boys need homes!  I am passing along this information from my friend/neighbor. She is getting her PhD at Auburn and is currently working at one of their labs doing medical research. Sadly, research involves working with animals. These two boys are what is left of a litter of pups that were bred for testing with muscular dystrophy. Some of their siblings ended up being born with it and will stay for experiments to help treat it. The rest of the litter (including these two) were healthy and they must find them homes. All of the dogs have been rescued, except for these two sweet boys. If they do not find homes soon they will be sold for Science. We can not let this happen!! So I am sending out this information to everyone I know in hopes that someone will be able to help!!
Here is some information that you need to know about them:

* 2 males
* can be adopted together or separate
*Born April 3, 2009
* Beagle/Corgi mix
*weigh between 25-40lbs
* They have been socialized, walk on a leash, but are not housebroken yet (my neighbor has their sister and she was house broken VERY quickly)
*up to date on vaccines and are microchipped
* Adoption is free and they will be neutered before being placed in a home

** Here is the rest of the information sent from my neighbor:

As for the adoption, it is free and there is a 2 page adoption application that must be submitted and approved. Once approved, we will set up an apt to have them neutered (this usually takes a few days) and then they stay for about 5 days post surgery just to make sure there are no complications. Whoever is adopting must be present for an exit exam/interview with one of our vets (this is in Auburn, AL).

If someone is interested or has more questions they can contact me directly and I will get them an adoption application. Email: allisonbradbury@... or cell 678.772.6345.

**The whole e-mail she sent me is above if you want to read everything she said.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me find these boys good homes! Please forward on to everyone you know. E-mail is very powerful and might just wind up in the right people's hands. Please contact my neighbor Allison Bradbury (contact info above) for more information or if you are able to help! Thank you so much for caring!!!

Sincerely,
Katie Howell

Hey Katie! Here are the two pups that are left that need to be adopted. They are both males (both are Sadie's brothers) and were born on 04.30.09. They have been socialized, walk on a leash, but are not house broken. Tthey are up to date with all vaccinations, and will be neutered for free if a home is found for them, they are also micro-chipped but the chip is not registered with any of the big companies but this can be done for a minimal fee if someone desires. I would guess they weigh close to 40 pounds (just a guess, Sadie is over 20 and she is a female so a bit smaller).

Thanks dear for any help you can in finding these last two pups a home.

Subject: Some Basic Islamic Beliefs
islam_mam26

Please forgive me for any disturbance, but I have an important subject to address to you regarding FAITH, and I Don’t intend to overload your email with unnecessary messages…
Some Basic Islamic Beliefs
1) Belief in God:
Muslims believe in one, unique, incomparable God, Who has no son nor partner, and that none has the right to be worshipped but Him alone. He is the true God, and every other deity is false. He has the most magnificent names and sublime perfect attributes. No one shares His divinity, nor His attributes. In the Quran, God describes Himself:

Say, “He is God, the One. God, to Whom the creatures turn for their needs. He begets not, nor was He begotten, and there is none like Him.” (Quran, 112:1-4)

Chapter 112 of the Quran written in Arabic calligraphy.

No one has the right to be invoked, supplicated, prayed to, or shown any act of worship, but God alone.
God alone is the Almighty, the Creator, the Sovereign, and the Sustainer of everything in the whole universe. He manages all affairs. He stands in need of none of His creatures, and all His creatures depend on Him for all that they need. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing, and the All-Knowing. In a perfect manner, His knowledge encompasses all things, the open and the secret, and the public and the private. He knows what has happened, what will happen, and how it will happen. No affair occurs in the whole world except by His will. Whatever He wills is, and whatever He does not will is not and will never be. His will is above the will of all the creatures. He has power over all things, and He is able to do everything. He is the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and the Most Beneficent. In one of the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad , we are told that God is more merciful to His creatures than a mother to her child.1 God is far removed from injustice and tyranny. He is All-Wise in all of His actions and decrees. If someone wants something from God, he or she can ask God directly without asking anyone else to intercede with God for him or her.
God is not Jesus, and Jesus is not God.2 Even Jesus himself rejected this. God has said in the Quran:
Indeed, they have disbelieved who have said, “God is the Messiah (Jesus), son of Mary.” The Messiah said, “Children of Israel, worship God, my Lord and your Lord. Whoever associates partners in worship with God, then God has forbidden Paradise for him, and his home is the Fire (Hell). For the wrongdoers,3 there will be no helpers.” (Quran, 5:72)
God is not a trinity. God has said in the Quran:
Indeed, they disbelieve who say, “God is the third of three (in a trinity),” when there is no god but one God. If they desist not from what they say, truly, a painful punishment will befall the disbelievers among them. Would they not rather repent to God and ask His forgiveness? For God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. The Messiah (Jesus), son of Mary, was no more than a messenger… (Quran, 5:73-75)
Islam rejects that God rested on the seventh day of the creation, that He wrestled with one of His angels, that He is an envious plotter against mankind, or that He is incarnate in any human being. Islam also rejects the attribution of any human form to God. All of these are considered blasphemous. God is the Exalted. He is far removed from every imperfection. He never becomes weary. He does not become drowsy nor does he sleep.
The Arabic word Allah means God (the one and only true God who created the whole universe). This word Allah is a name for God, which is used by Arabic speakers, both Arab Muslims and Arab Christians. This word cannot be used to designate anything other than the one true God. The Arabic word Allah occurs in the Quran about 2700 times. In Aramaic, a language related closely to Arabic and the language that Jesus habitually spoke,4 God is also referred to as Allah.
2) Belief in the Angels:
Muslims believe in the existence of the angels and that they are honored creatures. The angels worship God alone, obey Him, and act only by His command. Among the angels is Gabriel, who brought down the Quran to Muhammad .
3) Belief in God’s Revealed Books:
Muslims believe that God revealed books to His messengers as proof for mankind and as guidance for them. Among these books is the Quran, which God revealed to the Prophet Muhammad . God has guaranteed the Quran’s protection from any corruption or distortion. God has said:
Indeed, We have sent down the Quran, and surely We will guard it (from corruption). (Quran, 15:9)
4) Belief in the Prophets and Messengers of God:
Muslims believe in the prophets and messengers of God, starting with Adam, including Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, and Jesus (peace be upon them). But God’s final message to man, a reconfirmation of the eternal message, was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad . Muslims believe that Muhammad is the last prophet sent by God, as God has said:
Muhammad is not the father of any one of your men, but he is the Messenger of God and the last of the prophets… (Quran, 33:40)
Muslims believe that all the prophets and messengers were created human beings who had none of the divine qualities of God.
5) Belief in the Day of Judgment:
Muslims believe in the Day of Judgment (the Day of Resurrection) when all people will be resurrected for God’s judgment according to their beliefs and deeds.
6) Belief in Al-Qadar:
Muslims believe in Al-Qadar, which is Divine Predestination, but this belief in Divine Predestination does not mean that human beings do not have freewill. Rather, Muslims believe that God has given human beings freewill. This means that they can choose right or wrong and that they are responsible for their choices.
The belief in Divine Predestination includes belief in four things: 1) God knows everything. He knows what has happened and what will happen. 2) God has recorded all that has happened and all that will happen. 3) Whatever God wills to happen happens, and whatever He wills not to happen does not happen. 4) God is the Creator of everything

Earlier this morning at the request of our group owner I forwarded to you an email she received from her relative about the programs being offered at http://savingmorethanbefore.com Since that time I have received well over 1,000 emails from people who have already been part of these programs. They are all boasting how great the program is and how much money they are saving with it. One person informed me she was the first person that ever signed up back in 1977 and has been a member ever since. I shared these with our group owner and she asked me to share this with you.

Dear Members, I have been asked by our group owner to share the following email that she received from her cousin Kim Morrison:

I want to share this amazing tip that I just received about the programs at http://savingmorethanbefore.com I went to the supermarket with my neighbor two weeks ago and she left with an overflowing cart of groceries and non food items and to my shock only had to pay $ 23.36. She told me how she joined the program at the website above. As soon as I got home I joined the program as well. Last night I went shopping for Thanksgiving. We are having 12 people over as we do every year. My grocery bill for this holiday has always been in the neighborhood of $ 250.00. Thanks to this wonderful program this years bill was only $ 31.19! I am so excited I want to share this wonderful program with everyone I can!

Out of state rescues must pull under the license of a GA licensed rescue unless on the  list of approved rescues!  There are GA rescues that will assist you to pull under their licenses!

LOCAL VOLUNTEER HELP IS AVAILABLE TO ASSIST YOU WITH PULLING AND WITH DRIVING DOGS FROM THE SHELTER TO BOARDING/VET CLINIC.  Local volunteers cannot pay for boarding & vet care, nor can they coordinate out of state transport.  If you want assistance to pull from the shelter, please be prepared to share your rescue references, including a vet reference.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A LOCAL CONTACT, PLEASE EMAIL Margaret at mrenowi@yahoo. com  (at  yahoo.com), and I will forward your request for assistance.

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HELP THE ANIMALS OF FLOYD COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL.

FDA NEWS RELEASE

FDA Health Alert for Certain Pet Treats Made by Pet Carousel Products
may be contaminated with Salmonella

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is issuing this health alert to
warn consumers not to use Pig Ears and Beef Hooves pet treats
manufactured by Pet Carousel because the products may be contaminated
with Salmonella. The products were distributed nationwide in both bulk
and retail packaging for sale in pet food and retail chain stores. Pet
Carousel is based in Sanger, Calif.

The products were manufactured under conditions that facilitate
cross-contamination within batches or lots. Although no illnesses
associated with these products have been reported, the FDA is advising
consumers in possession of these products to not handle or feed them
to their pets.

The affected pig ear products were packaged under the brand names
Doggie Delight and Pet Carousel. The affected beef hooves were
packaged under the brand names Choo Hooves, Dentley's, Doggie Delight,
and Pet Carousel. All sizes and all lots of these products made by Pet
Carousel are included in this alert.

During September 2009, the FDA conducted routine testing of pig ears
made by Pet Carousel. The test results detected a positive reading for
Salmonella. This prompted an FDA inspection of Pet Carousel's
manufacturing facilities. During the inspection, the agency collected
additional pet treat samples. Further analysis found Salmonella
present in beef hooves, pig ears and in the manufacturing environment.

Salmonella can affect both humans and animals. People handling dry pet
food and/or pet treats can become infected with Salmonella, especially
if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact
with the treats or any surfaces exposed to these products. Consumers
should dispose of these products in a safe manner by securing them in
a covered trash receptacle.

Healthy people infected with Salmonella may experience some or all of
the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea,
abdominal cramping and fever. Although rare, Salmonella can result in
more serious ailments including arterial infections, endocarditis
(inflammation of the lining of the heart), arthritis, muscle pain, eye
irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these
signs after having contact with this product should contact their
health care provider immediately.

Pets with Salmonella infections may become lethargic and have diarrhea
or bloody diarrhea, fever and vomiting. Some pets may only experience
a decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected, but
otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or
humans. If your pet has consumed any of the affected products or is
experiencing any of these symptoms, contact your veterinarian
immediately.

The FDA will continue to investigate this matter to determine the
source of the Salmonella contamination and offer updates as
appropriate.
