A group dedicated to the Bergamasco Shepherd.

People often ask if they are bergs, they are thinking of Leonberger (also called bergs).. and Bergies are often confused for Bernies (bernies mountain dogs). The correct name is Pastore de Bergamasco.

The Bergamasco shepherd, having a 2000 yr old heritage is a dog of medium size of rustic appearance with an abundant coat covering all parts of the body, of a powerful and compact construction. This wonderful Italian breed is independent, proud and regal, with it's Rebel Coat and Heart of Gold, makes a wonderful friend and companion for all those who have been lucky enough to open their hearts and homes to a bergamasco.


We welcome Bergamasco owners, breeders, and new puppy owners who wish to learn more about this unique and rustic breed. This is a friendly place to share stories, photos, experiences and advice to help each other take the best care of our Bergamascos possible.
