AND RECREATION SPOTS TO AID FALL LEISURE TRAVEL
"Dog Park" Listings, 10 Tips for Doggie-Etiquette Are New Information
Resources on PetFriendlyTravel.com -- Website Linking Pet Owners, Pet
Friendly Lodgings
Hollywood, CA, October 18, 2006 -- What can be more enjoyable on a
crisp fall day than going for run in the park? For dog owners – the
knowledge that they've found a spot where their pet is welcome to run
without a leash can be priceless – especially when traveling to new
and different places.
PetFriendlyTravel.com, a leading web destination for pet owners
seeking travel and vacation lodgings that welcome animals, has added a
new guide to parks in the US and Canada that welcome off-leash dogs.
The new feature, which includes 10 tips for Doggie-Etiquette, builds
on PetFriendlyTravel.com's commitment to provide comprehensive
information resources that meet the needs of traveling pet owners.
The website already provides listings of "Dog Beaches" and rules for
pet access to National Parks.
Tracey Thompson, pet travel expert and founder of
PetFriendlyTravel.com, said, "With two-thirds of pet owners typically
bringing their animals along on leisure travel, knowing where to find
welcoming recreation facilities is essential to their enjoyment. As a
dog owner, I know how much it means to animals to enjoy the freedom to
romp off-leash – but also how important it is, as a responsible owner,
to know in advance where our pets will be welcome, and what rules
apply for their access."
The new guide to Off Leash Dog Parks, which lists facilities in 45
States, can be accessed at
http://www.petfriendlytravel.com/?page=off_leash_dog_parks , with a
separate link to park facilities in 11 Canadian provinces.
As increasing numbers of family pets take to the road with their
owners this fall, Thompson has also posted on her site 10 Tips for
Doggie-Etiquette:
Ten Tips for Doggie-Etiquette:
1. Know each dog park's rules, and follow them
2. Keep your dog leashed until you're inside the park's fenced area
3. Never leave your dog unattended, even in an off-leash dog park
4. Maintain voice control over your dog at all times
5. If your pet starts to play rough, leash him or her and leave the
park immediately
6. Don't bring toys that dogs could fight over to the dog park
7. Keep your dog's vaccinations up-to-date
8. Never bring a female dog in heat to a dog park
9. Always clean up after your dog
10. A dog park is not a great place for small children -- if children
are with you, watch them closely.
