[OUR MISSION]CCAC is an international community of over 5,000 lay people and veterinarians, who are interested in canine and feline Cushing's syndrome (hyperadrenocorticism), steroid hormone aberrations and associated disorders (e.g. liver disease, pancreatitis, diabetes, kidney disease, UTI, bladder stones, incontinence, heart disease, hypertension, thromboembolism, hypothyroidism, myotonia, arthritis, osteoporosis, calcinosis cutis, hyperparathyroidism, SARDS, cancer, pituitary/adrenal tumors, seizures, Alopecia X, hyperestrinism, autoimmune polyglandular syndromes, iatrogenic hypoadrenocorticism/Addison's, Addisonian crisis).
We offer a wide range of educational resources, including shared experiences of pet owners, the expertise of veterinarians, guest speakers, and tools to manage your pet's medical care. We value critical thinking and present current, factual and balanced information. Discussions focus on the etiology, clinical signs, laboratory findings, diagnosis, treatment options, cutting-edge therapies (e.g. Dermatonin implant, radiation therapy, hypophysectomy) and management of Cushings (typical, atypical, iatrogenic) in dogs and cats.
Other topics include science-based medicine, pseudoscience/dubious therapies, endocrine disease in other species, breed predisposition to disease, vaccination guidelines, therapeutic nutrition, financial aid, physical therapy, geriatrics and hospice care. Peer-reviewed articles in veterinary journals and conference proceedings are also discussed.
