**ALL OUR ADULT PIT & PIT MIXES ARE OFFERRED AT 1/2 ADOPTION FEE ($75) DURING NOVEMBER!!**


Ace is such a good boy! A handsome Pittie/Lab mix, he is around 2-3 years old. He weighs 55 lbs, and looks quite lean. He has beautiful chocolate brown coat!! He is HOUSEBROKEN and is very eager to please his people!! He knows 'Sit'. Ace should go to a household with kids age 6 and up.


This young boy has a lot of energy, so he wants to go home where he can run around, excercise and play!! Ace is good with some dogs but no cats for him, please. He has no interest in toys yet. Ace needs leash work & some basic obedience but teaching him cool tricks should be fun and easy especially with his favorite treats! He is a SMART boy and loves to please his people!!


Please give this handsome fellow his 2nd chance at life so he can be a treasured pet, instead of watching the world go by from his cell!!

Home without cats preferred

Ace is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.

URGENT-9-1939-Female-Lab mix-Black-Available 11-14-She is about 2-3 months old and around 10lbs. She is very friendly and sweet. She gets along with other dogs. 
URGENT-9-1915-Male-Chi mix-White-He was very shy at first but has warmed up a lot. He's about 2-3 years old and 10lbs. Adoption fell thru after we held him for several extra days.  Now he's in big danger of being put to sleep!
 
URGENT-9-1941-Female-chi mix-black-Available 11-14-She has an injury to her leg. She is a very friendly and sweet girl. She is about 1-2 years old and around 10lbs. ACO took her to vet, no definitive diagnosis but city will only allow basics.  Volunteers took her back, had xray done - no broken bones.  Is on antiimflammatory meds.  Very nice girl!

Hey Guys, please take a look at Dixie, a deaf catahoula mix who was rescued from the shelter after her rescuer learned that animal control had been called to pick her up!  Dixie is about 3 yrs old, very sweet and happy. She likes children but would need some training because she gets so excited she may knock them down. These pics do not do her justice! Dixie has a beautiful coat and beautiful blue eyes. She will need someone who is willing to work with her due to her being deaf. She is up to date on vaccs, heartworm negative, spayed, and ready for adoption!

PLEASE CROSSPOST~PLEASE NETWORK~PLEASE FORWARD~Shelter is completely out of space--overflowing and dogs and puppies must move ASAP or we will be forced to euthanize for reasons of space!  THE SITUATION IS BEYOND URGENT AND EUTHANASIA MAY BEGIN AS EARLY AS TUESDAY MORNING, NOVEMBER 17TH.
 
We make every effort to save every one of our adoptable animals and hold them as long as possible to give them time to be adopted or to find rescue.  We love them, each and every one!  BUT WE ARE BEYOND OUT OF SPACE!
 
We have gorgeous, sweet dogs and darling puppies, and beg you to look at this list and see if you can find room in your heart and in your rescue for even one!  Remember, if you rescue one dog you save two dogs by giving another dog more time to find rescue!
 
Please note: there are a number of very young puppies, under four months old, on this list--they are available to rescues--but are NOT at risk of euthanasia!

This is Hancock.  He came to the shelter with some skin problems, but his hair has all grown back
and he is cute as he can be now!  He had rescue, but they decided not to take him!  He just came
back from the vet and is completely vetted:  Neutered, shots, rabies shot, heartworm negative;
Now all he needs is a new home and some kids to chase!!!  He is very very friendly and cute!!
He is in a foster home but cannot stay and is being returned to the shelter!

More About Mutt 09-1317, bulldog mix male
Mutt's owner turned him in because he got out of their fence.  It wasn't hard to do with all the
wholes in it that they wouldn't repair!  This is a beautiful friendly dog.  Always happy to see you
and doesn't bark and fuss at all with other dogs.  Loves to be petted and will just lean against
the fence so you can scratch his neck!

Mack was turned in with two other dogs.  We didn't know his whole story until now.
His elderly owner died and left Mack, Inky and another little dog.  No relative or neighbor
would help these poor babies and take them in.  Inky and the other little dog, a chihuahua
got adopted.  Mack is sweet and friendly, cute as can be!  Time is up for Mack!

pet forever and ever.  He's an older dog and he is very friendly and gets along well

What a concept!  Do we force ourselves to believe that what I don't know about or what I don't see can't  hurt me. Think of all the love these animals have to give if just given the opportunity!  We all had that one favorite dog or cat when small, if we were blessed.  Always glad to see us, never mad at us, always right with us and never ever told on us!!  These dogs could be that special pet for some little girl or boy!!!  Please help us at our small shelter.  We really want to save every single one.  And, in memory of those that died this week, please help just one!!!

First is Carlotta a 3 year old Pit Bull.  She has 7 puppies here.  She was found tied to a pole, almost strangled, because she had gotten so twisted up.  She supposedly lived with a male dog (who also came to BARCS).  Initially the techs thought she was dog aggressive but, I think she was just protecting the puppies.  I observed her while she was out for cleaning today, and she couldn’t have cared less about the dog across from her.  Of course it’s hard to evaluate anything here but, I think she’s worth a chance, especially since she is SO SWEET with people.
Dakota is an adult Catahoula Leopard Dog, that came in on 11/7, with nine 1 day old puppies.  They were picked up as strays (as if she was really wandering around with 9 newborn pups).  She does growl at us, and is very protective of the puppies.
Justice is a young (1-2 years) Pit bull, who surprised us all a week ago with the birth of a single puppy.  She is also a very sweet girl.

This is Kahlua, she is an Ultra Urgent 1 year old female Catahoula.   She is super Sweet.  She is dog aggressive, and has separation anxiety. EVERYONE has given up on her Except Janeen!   She is in desperate need of a place to go.   Has until Monday evening.    Her issues CAN be corrected with time and Patience.  She needs a good yard, Love, and attention.   Can anyone step up to help this amazing girl?   Again, time is of the Essence as she only has until Monday afternoon.

Justice is a young (1-2 years) Pit bull, who surprised us all a week ago with the birth of a single puppy.  She is also a very sweet girl.

So i adopted a Chatahoula from a shelter where they had told me that he might be
put down and like a good pet owner I did my research on the breed but thought
that ever thing would work out. We got this 7 mo old puppy home to find out that
he had very bad animal aggression and bone and food aggression.We got him
neutered thinking that would help and it did a little bit. We have had him to a
behaviorist (that did help the most) we have had an out door indoor kennel built
he destroys it. he has ruined our carpet our deck, shoes, clothes, dishes
(pulling them off the counter) boxes and anything else he can get a hold of. We
are just praying that he grows out of it and that we wont have to find a
different home for him. How ever I feel horrible we had promised my daughter
that we would get her a cat and her being 5 now is wondering why she can't have
her kitten but we are so afraid that our catahoula will kill it that I just
can't get her one.

Does anyone have experience with this breed and my situation???????? We have
spent well over 1,000.00 on this dog that we rescued from a shelter and he is
just waring me out. SOME ONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

Dear friends,
   These sweet boys need homes!  I am passing along this information from my friend/neighbor. She is getting her PhD at Auburn and is currently working at one of their labs doing medical research. Sadly, research involves working with animals. These two boys are what is left of a litter of pups that were bred for testing with muscular dystrophy. Some of their siblings ended up being born with it and will stay for experiments to help treat it. The rest of the litter (including these two) were healthy and they must find them homes. All of the dogs have been rescued, except for these two sweet boys. If they do not find homes soon they will be sold for Science. We can not let this happen!! So I am sending out this information to everyone I know in hopes that someone will be able to help!!
Here is some information that you need to know about them:

* 2 males
* can be adopted together or separate
*Born April 3, 2009
* Beagle/Corgi mix
*weigh between 25-40lbs
* They have been socialized, walk on a leash, but are not housebroken yet (my neighbor has their sister and she was house broken VERY quickl y)
*up to date on vaccines and are microchipped
* Adoption is free and they will be neutered before being placed in a home

As for the adoption, it is free and there is a 2 page adoption application that must be submitted and approved. Once approved, we will set up an apt to have them neutered (this usually takes a few days) and then they stay for about 5 days post surgery just to make sure there are no complications. Whoever is adopting must be present for an exit exam/interview with one of our vets (this is in Auburn, AL).

Hey Katie! Here are the two pups that are left that need to be adopted. They are both males (both are Sadie's brothers) and were born on 04.30.09. They have been socialized, walk on a leash, but are not house broken. SHORT VERSION:
NEW DOGS IN NEED OF RESCUE AND UPDATES FROM LAST PLEA:
MILLIE - Jack Russell - female.  Our Millie is a fun loving and active girl.  She adores other dogs, but is in need of rescue because of her injuring a cat.  Her owner elected to surrender her to the shelter rather than try to keep peace in the neighborhood as the cat lived next door.  Other than her cat problem, she is a solid good looking Jack Russell.   NEEDS RESCUE! She is about 5 yrs old.

CECEIL - Pit Bull mix - 1 year.  Ceil has a very sad story.  It appears that she fell out of the back of a truck and her people left her or could not find her.  She recovered quickly in the shelter from a broken tail.  She can wag her tail totally now and can function like like a normal dog!  This is a sweet girl who passed her temperment test including handling and has been cleared by the vet for adoption, but because she does not show well in her kennel, she will NEED RESCUE!  On the outs she loves going for walks, and giving kisses!

MARGIE - McNab female - 1 yr 6 months is proven with other dogs - was found running with 10 ranch dogs and fit right in.  She does not show well in her kennel and so NEEDS RESCUE.

RITCHIE - Pit mix - male - has heartworms and so NEEDS RESCUE.  He was found with Margie and got along well with all the ranch dogs as well!

SHELIA - AND HER LITTER OF 8 PUPPIES -  Momma is a Border Collie / Bully mix.  These pups are just too little to be in the shelter.  We are looking for a rescue for these 6 boys and 2 girls.

PURE MALAMUTE - male - 5 yrs - TAHOE - Needs rescue from a private placement.  He is more dog than the people can handle.   Picture was too large to attached.  Am having it resized, but if interested, please contact me!

LUCY (not really sure what breed she is - TAIL CURLS OVER HER BACK - WHEN EXCITED HER HAIR COMES UP IN A RIDGE PATTERN BY HER SHOULDER BLADES AND NECK - DOES HAVE BRINDLING THAT IS VERY FAR APART - NOT A LARGE BONED OR LARGE DOG) Her partner Dexter was adopted :O)  .Lovely Lucy goosey is by far a joy to have around, she greats you with a pretty smile, and a gentle tail waging, she's an easy going housemate. She appreciates time spent with her, loves to play tug and a good romp in the open, grassy areas of the park. She loves good healthy treats and will do the hand-shake when you prompt her to. She is also able to spend lots of time by herself with no accidents and no property damage.  UPDATE - HER FOSTER WENT ON VACATION AND SHE IS BEING BOARDED AND DOING VERY WELL THERE AND LOVES THE DOGGIE DAY CARE PART WHERE SHE GETS TO HANG OUT WITH OTHER DOGS!

My first reaction was  "Get outta here.  You've got to be kidding!   That's their solution?  

An EYE Care Clinic who would threaten to do that???!   It will travel like wild fire through the rescue community that they even suggested  taking her to the pound. Instead of a "bed of Leaves"  how about putting a nice old comforter out there for her with a big box until a rescue is found?  Oh for God's sake!!!  This really fries me!  Of course a rescue will help her.   I'm in disbelief!  LEAVES????  SOMEONE PLEASE HELP THIS POOR MAMA.   They are both beautiful dogs, too!

Last week someone dumped this VERY pregnant black lab and a young male lab mix outside the Eye Care Clinic in Concord, NC.  The employees there have been feeding them.

The mama beds down in a bed of leaves by the steps each night outside the clinic. She looks like she will have puppies any day!  It will be raining tonight and tomorrow.  The doctors at the clinic want the dogs gone soon, and plan to bring them to Animal Control if a rescue is not found.   Can anyone help?

I have a rescue contact in LA, Martha Escoyne, and she has some red catahoula mix puppies that she needs to move out of LA and was hoping one of your rescues had room. I told her that since she does NOT do the internet thing, I would contact you. She will be sending photos to me shortly to crosspost. These 3 little beauties look like short-haired aussies and I believe one even has a stub tail and one has blue eyes. They are 6 mo old, all current on shots and spayed/neutered. 2 look more like their rottie mom (or a GSD to me!) Would you have room for these 5 at your rescue? Martha is willing to help get them to you...please let me know and I will contact Martha...or you may call and talk to her if you need more info...337-228-7675.
