Hi again Carol,Just a quick addendum for you. We went to raw for one of our cats due to allergies, (it worked wonders) and 2 of the others took it up a the preferred diet. All we did was put down raw, with nothing else but drinking water. no munchies nothing (obviously we didn't let it stand all day, just small portions at a time) Always bring food up to room temp as it is much more palatable for the cats (I understand ferrets are not quite so fussy lol)We were told by the vet that a cat would only go to a max of 10 days before giving in, we didn't have to wait that long only 3 for us, but it is hard. Some people do a very very small portion of tinned and the rest raw until they get used to the idea and then just cut out the tinned. If you have any good supermarkets near you, look out for the packs of fresh or frozen chicken livers, as a lot of people make their own pate now a days so it is quite common to find it in the freezers with the frozen meat and with the chicken quarters in the fresh meat section. When you buy a whole chicken why not quarter it and freeze the extra portions, I know the Ferrets will help with this when you do defrost it. LOL and it saves waste. My cats also eat the raw chicken striped off the bones and then I make soup/stock from the bones and freeze it, no waste that way at all.The only meats and offal I don't recommend is pork and beef, the meat and offal of both is very heavy on a cats digestion.Hope this helpsTanis
*** Nope not at all. With two cats and six ferrets I'm up to my arm pits
in it most days. Got a rabbit in the fridge at the moment ; - )
ps don't tell my cats about the rabbit or they will be round for freebies ;)
Thanks again for you reply. it's much appreciated
Carol
