Great advice; in addition............
Make sure that your cat's registration number and information in the catalogue
is correct (Double Check Everything!).
It can present you with a big headache if the information is not correct and
you take finals or a title...talking from experience.
Try not to be nervous although sometimes it's hard, especially if you are new.
That tension sometimes transfers to your baby. Your kitty needs to feel secure,
happy and loved.
Have fun and good luck. Let us know how you both do.

Ok so you set up your curtains and put the cat in the cage. Collect
the litter from the show management and put that and water in the
cage for the cat. Do any last minute wiping and grooming. Get your
cat's number out of the catalog and either write it in big letters on
the front of your catalog or in ball point pen on your hand...if you
are showing more than one cat, you'll need it on your hand.
Sit down and PAY ATTENTION. They will announce "household pet kittens
in ring one, numbers whatever through whatever" and "championship
kittens in ring so and so, numbers whichever through
wherever"...listen for your category and your ring. Watch for your
number to be put on the cages on the sides of the rings, and when it
is, go over your cat one last time, then carry it up and put it in
the cage and sit down and DON'T SPEAK TO THE JUDGE OR CLERK UNLESS
THEY SPEAK TO YOU FIRST. They are not supposed to know whose cat is
whose - that's why the business with the numbers.
When the judge has looked at your cat and the clerk has turned your
numbers face down, you can take your cat back to your benching area.
Then you have to listen for the cat's place in the other rings AND
you have to listen for finals to be announced.
After the judge has seen all the cats of your category, they rank the
cats and the top few cats are brought back and ranked by their
scores. Keep track of any finals; this is how championship titles are
accumulated. After the show, you mail in your points along with your
application for any titles you might pick up to TICA with a small
check. Also, if you get a final, you get to keep the ribbon or the
plaque that states which place you took. Hang those on your benching
cage.
If you are confused about how to figure your points, just ask one of
the clerks or show officials to help you.
Have fun! Win Big!
