This is intended for owners/handlers wanting to learn more about using clicker training and other positive methods for training their show dogs. Whether it be training a new puppy or adult dog with clicker training for the show ring or utilizing positive scientific methods to help show dogs overcome fear issues, it can be discussed here.
The list was started by Vicki Ronchette, author of Positive Training for Show Dogs - Building a Relationship for Success to help readers of the book and others learn more about using positive reinforcement methods for training and dealing with show dogs.
You are welcome to share your thoughts and ideas but please keep in mind that this is a positive training list and so aversive or confrontational training method discussions will not be permitted. Anyone pushing aversive training methods or equipment will be removed from the list. Discussion of leash pops or corrections, coercing or using force, and "alpha rolling" are all considered aversive and won't be permitted on the list. Further, this list is intended for people who have a desire to learn, grow and improve their skills.
Everyone subscribing must fill out a short questionaire before being approved.
