Hi,
I looking for a list of sex-linked traits in collies. Can anyone
help me? I need both male and female. Do they come in separate lists?
Do these traits differ from breed to breed? I don't presently have
any copies of Willis's genetics books. Does anyone know if there is
a site online which has this? Off-list reply is fine.
Thanks so much,
Karen Tewart

Hi,
Does anyone know how I can get ahold of Terry Sullivan, the
geneticist who used to post to this list? I see she is still listed
as a member, however I haven't seen Terry post lately.
Thanks so much,
karen tewart
Does anyone have a pedigree on this Canadian bitch? She’s the dam of
Cinderella’s Sherborne Rage.
Thanks,

No, I think paid $150 for my edition of CompuPed back in 1997....
And we'll be getting a 35% discount as I already have enough people signed
up who want it (11+).
I'm really excited about this program as it does everything the DOS version
of CompuPed does in a Windows environment and with MUCH prettier pedigrees.
It's user friendly and the company has a great reputation unlike the current
owners of CompuPed.

It appears to be a good program but a little pricey, Caroline. The
Basic (no genetics, bells or whistles) starts at $119. That's more
expensive than most operating systems. The add on genetics is listed
at $39 for doing co-efficients. I'm happy it can convert Compuped but
even with the discount it's on the high side, don't you think?

Hi,
Please feel free to cross post this list to anyone you think may be
interested. Replies must be sent to shoshannah@...
Please read this entire email before asking questions as the information you
need is probably here.
In order to participate in our group purchase, you will need to go to
HYPERLINK "www.tenset.co.uk"www.tenset.co.uk and explore their website.
Decide which program and accessories you want. The group discount will be
35%. Then, when you decide you really do want to participate in the group
purchase, please send me the following information:
- Exactly what BA product you want (Standard/Professional/Commercial) (we
even have a gal buying the horse program!), whether you want the genetics
option (general or breed specific), and whether you want the CD.
- Your name
- Your requested BA license name. For the Standard Edition, this MUST be
your personal name in the way you would put it on a pedigree. The program
will require that name to appear in pedigree headings in order to print a
pedigree. With the Professional edition, the name can also be the breeding /
cattery / kennel name, and the print requirement is relaxed.
- Your address, phone number, and email address
We will each be responsible for getting our own payments to the company.
Payment dates will be on November 1st and 2nd. If you want to participate,
you MUST be willing and able to commit to paying for your program on those
dates. If you're not going to follow through, don't sign up because you
could screw this up for everyone. You will be able to either pay with
PayPal, or by calling the company with your credit card information.
Remember, they're in the UK, so it'll be an international phone call. I'll
give those signed up the payment amount and details on how to make the
payment during the week before we send in our payments.
If you decide not to get the CD, the re-download policy is as follows:
You can re-download whenever you like, without charge, using the same
product license details to install the program (you receive these when you
first make your purchase), except in one situation: if BA upgrades the
product with a major upgrade for which they make an update charge, and you
choose not to upgrade, then BA doesn’t promise to maintain all older
versions of the program on their site forever. In that situation, you would
not be able to re-download. BA doesn’t charge for all updates. Most are
free. In fact, they've only made one update charge ever, this was in 2002
when they launched the v4 series of the product; at that time, customers of
the prior version who wished to upgrade then paid a $49 upgrade charge. Note
that customers who had only had the product less than 6 months could
download the upgrade free of charge.
Additional information on the Genetics Option:
The genetics option is $39, and this gets you fixed genetic configurations
for all the breeds that we support (see list on site); user chooses which
one they want when they go to configure the genetics in the program. These
genetic configurations are fixed in the program - i.e., the user can’t
change them. There is however a separate, and additional option: the 'user
modifiable genetic configuration'. This is a further $119 and gets the user
a text-file version of the genetic configuration specific to their breed. As
a text file, this can be directly modified. However, it’s not for the faint
hearted, and requires a good understanding of genetics to use it. Note that
this $119 'user modifiable' option is in *addition* to the basic $39
genetics option. As a guide, few BA customers either need or get the user
modifiable extension. These prices are the undiscounted prices; anyone in
your group would get the discount off these.
I'll be closing the database on October 27th, so you must get your
information to me by then if you want to participate.
Thanks!

These are the discounts we're looking at for a group purchase. I'd like to
at least get a group of four together.

4-5 copies: 25% discount on all copies
6-10 copies: 30% discount on all copies
11+ copies: 35% discount on all copies

Hello,
I've finished the 2001 AKC Collie Champions CD.
This CD includes four generation pedigrees in html format on all of the 194
Rough and 198 Smooth American Kennel Club Champions finished in 2001. This
is NOT the CCA Champions Book. It is a collection of pedigrees without
pictures.
Champions are in red, and those dogs without a championship but with a title
after their name are accented in violet. The information includes the name,
AKC or CKC number, color, date of birth and coat type when known on all four
generations of the pedigree. Also included are the breeder and owner of the
champion of record.
The CD is $54.00 (including shipping). If you're worried that your computer
won't be able to open the individual pedigrees, I'll be happy to send you
one via email so you can test it.

Can you give me some more info on your pedigree program? I would like to use it, too!
Thanks!

Hello Caroline.
I’m glad that you like the pedigree format that I sent. I use a Mac and was not happy with any of the programs that are commerically available and also, I wanted the flexibility to generate reports that were specific to my specific requests — things like generating a list of all the champions produced by an individual stud dog or all champions produced by a specific kennel or list by dams etc.
Anyway, my son who is a softwear designer — designed the format in Filemaker Pro and that’s what generates these lovely pedigrees as well as storing photos, notes, and any other information that I feel would be of interest. You enter all the data in individual records and the pedigree is automatically created. And then I just print them as a pdf to send out. --

I have found the same thing in the two tri to blue matings that I have done. My tris carried some white but not even full white collars. Two of the blues were white back to the shoulders and beyond a bit as well as having the white up the back leg. Three of the males from the last litter also have wide white blazes (well really more than a blaze!). I found it interesting also and am curious as to others experiences with this. All of the blues seemed to be white factored and none of the tris. Did not seem to matter if they were rough or smooth, which I would not expect it to. On the other hand, I was not expecting to see the white factoring fall the way it did. Coincidence or something more?
