A place to discuss alternate ways of raising rabbits (besides in cages/on wire), colony-style in group settings,whether inside, outdoor pens, rabbit tractors - all ideas welcome! Also focusing on more natural methods of feeding and care and providing for mental stimulation. Both meat and pet breeders/owners welcome, but discussion may also encompass butchering and related topics so please do not join if this offends you. I'm not sure what killed the kit. It could have died and/or eaten on the surface and then have a rat drag the remains into the tunnel - where it would feel

Do you think the predator killed and ate the kit in the tunnel? Or could the kit have been injured outside the nest and gone back in to where it felt safe,

... The wire is 2&1/2ft high, in good shape. Even if it was higher, a cat could climb the apple tree and get in with no problem.
