This is a support group for dog/cat owners who have hereditary/congenital diseases or conditions such as Hydrocephalus, also known as "water on the brain", Atlantoaxial instability (AAI or AAS) which results from a malformation in the first two vertebrae in the neck , Wobbler Syndrome (Cervical Vertebral Instability ), liver disease, Hepatic microvascular dysplasia (HMD or MVD),hepatic hydrothorax, liver shunts, heart conditions, bone, joint disease, eye, congenital renal failure syndrome, epilepsy, skin disorders, cleft palate, and any other diseases/conditions that are considered hereditary/congenital.

My name is Melissa, I started this group in July 2006, after finding that my Chihuahua, Trixie, had multiple hereditary/congenital problems. She was diagnosed with hepatopathy, which is Hepatic microvascular dysplasia (HMD or MVD), hepatic hydrothorax , hydrocephalus, bilateral luxating patellas, right subluxated hip and a seizure disorder. She turned 2 years old in July 2007, which was a major milestone. She passed to Rainbow Bridge Sept 26, 2007 from liver failure, and now is one of the group angels She weighed in at 1 pound at 2 1/2 years old. Trixie loved riding in the car snuggled in her favorite blanket, as seen above.
