Not a bad looking female betts in the front and I
think I could see another in the rear. Do you like
those air filters? I used them awhile and thought they
did an exceptional job for the cost and what it is. I
just got tired of the suction cups having to be
replaced. It was almost cheaper to just buy a new filter
unit. Plus it got to the point that my tastes changed
and bigger fish kept knocking it loose. Good
otherwise.
I have to say it is definitely very bright! I
could see you had a very nice looking male 1/2 black
guppy, what is the other guppy in upper right area? Do
you know why type of pl*co you have? They are small
right now. They sort of look like what is being called,
around here anyway, the Red Hi-Fin pleco. I have a photo
of the one I had that was 10" on my site. He is a
bit tattered from being in a cichlid tank but he did
quite well, till we moved...

I will have to
locate it later..

Kaycy
the prisher is droping fast and the corys are all
swimming up and doun the side of the tank.the first sines
of rain are now in sight and even the spoted pair
and the greens are chasing each other. well Im going
to keep a clos eye on them and after i see eggs I'll
scop them out of the tank(if they spawn)well hope are
high:)
I'll tell you all what happens tomarow if
anything:)

aries14o14
the 2 greens are begining to act more like corys
and the female spoted one is also but the spoted male
still hides in the cave with the plecos.o and one of
the albinos layd eggs!but I got to them to late and
my other fish aet them:( owell better luke next
time:)at list I know they will breed lol next week Im
going to take the 4 big corys out of my 29gal commity
tank that there in now and put them into my other
29gal that is home to 3 female bettas 1 placos and a
net full of guppy fry.

aries14o14
There are a lot of really neat corys out there,
with a wide variety of patterns. I really like the
oipoquensis, and the metae, and panda, arcuatus is neatI I
have a strain of aeneus that really looks good with
orange and green. But I truly think that the trilineatus
is one of the best looking patterns out there.
Hey again. Just curious, does anyone have a
favorite cory? I'd have to say mine is the albino, so pink
and cuddly. :-) I haven't seen too many species,
though; lps have pretty scant selections.
Kelly
(lil_ysbaddaden)
the 2 "green corys" are about 3" longthe spoted
male is about 2" and the female is 2 1/2"long.
I'll give them a few more days to settel in and see
what happends.I hope thats all it is.
thanks for
the help.

aries14o14
It can be normal. Until they are settled in good,
they can be skittish. Give them hiding places and they
will feel comfortable and be in the open more. The
water parameters may also be a source of this skittish
activity. If the nitrates or nitrites are elevated, it can
cause this. A couple of good water changes wil solve
this problem if it is the cause. Ammonia will also
cause distress, but you would see labored breathing,
and scratching on objects in the tank, among other
symptoms. Too much activity from a high traffic area can
keep them in hiding also. The other corys can help make
them feel comfortable once they settle in. Check the
dorsal fins, coloration, and size. If they are much
larger than normal, they may not be corys, they may be
"emerald brochis". A related species. There are 3 species
in the brochis family.
4 of my new corys are not very active.they are
larger than all my others and are very fritend by me or
any other person who looks in the tank.I had them in
a 29gal with 2 female bettas and a plecos but they
satyd hiden under the plants.so then I moved them into
a 10gal that had some flwer pots init.they were
still not very active.so I moved them into my other
29gal with all my other corys.well they are still very
scard.is this normal? thanks for the help.

The very large green corys could be brochis
species which are closely related. The spotted ones could
be any of several. The ones with the stripe from the
eyes to the tail are probably arcuatus. They breed
like panda and metae. A very neat little cory.
I got 6 new corys today but they were out of the
striped ones I waunted.but i did get a pair of very larg
green corys.and a pair that that have spots like a
lepard but I have no name for them.and then 2 littel
ones that have a line from there eyes to there
tails.Iv seen them befor but dont know the name.I'll have
pics hopefully by next sat.

aries14o14
Im going to the pet store to day and Im going to
get a few pairs if they have any left.Im also planing
on geting 3pandas and 3 greens. i think I'll have
the camra bye mon. but im not 100% on it.but I'll get
ya a pic.

aries14o14
The bad part is there are a ton of corys out
there that can be or are called striped corys. The good
part is they are different species, some are
reasonably priced, and they are all neat. If you can, post
some pics later and if you can't id them, I'll give it
a shot. If I don't recognize it right off, I have
every cory book, ecept the aqualog series and I have an
atlas. Enjoy.
we do seem to keep the same kind of fish lol.o
Dan said thoes dts are lovely and hes going to give
me a pair of the fry he just got a litter out of
them yesterday.well see ya around in the chat
room.
aries14o14
at my lps there are some corys there called
stripd cory cats.I have spent a long time today looking
for what they are but can not find a photo of one. Im
going to get a few this week end. thanks for the info
all.

aries14o14
Not necessarily healthier fry. You could do the
same thing just by getting fry from 2 different
sources, thus reducing the chances of inbreeding. fish are
so simple genetically, that some inbreeding does not
hurt. That's how color variants are fixed and then
bred. But it is not good in the long run. Simply adding
some gene strains to the mix helps revitalize things,
refresh faded colors, and helps perk things up.If you do
breed them together, then the fry will carry half a
gene for albino. I am not a genetics pro, but if you
breed them back to each other after that, you can get
some new albino, and some pure aeneus and some mixed.
Anyway, good luck and have fun.Look forward to the pics.
thanks for the info.and yes the aldino and the
broz are the same spises:)and i have read that if I
interbreed them I well get heather fry.mine that i just got
are to young to breed but Im going to get some older
ones this weekend that I will in one of my many
tanks.I'll post pics of them as soon as my dad breings home
his digtal camra.

aries14o14
Greetings. Good luck on your efforts to breed the
corys. The aeneus and albino are probably the same
species. there is an albino paleatus (peppered)cory, but
they are few and not common. The aeneus and albino
aeneus can interbreed. If this matters to you, separate
them. They can be easily bred in a 10 gallon tank as
long as you have both sexes. To tell the sexes apart,
look at them from overhead. The females will be a lot
wider across the pectoral fin area, to make room for
the eggs to be produced. In addition, the females of
these species are usually a lot bigger than the males.
You can place a male and female or 2 males and a
female in the 10 gallon tank. Just feed them a tabimin
or two a day and do some water changes. Then (my
trick), start feeding them a cube of tubifex worms daily.
After about 10 days, do about a 90% water change. this
should trigger a spawn. If it doesn't, repeat the
sequence. The water for the change can be about 8-10F
degrees cooler than what you take out. The parents can be
removed after the spawn is over, to prevent egg
predation. You can put some Methylene blue in the water to
help prevent the eggs from fungusing. The carbon in
your filter will remove the meth. blue. The eggs
should hatc in 3-5 days depending on the species. A
couple of days after hatching, you can start feeding the
fry with "green water" or a liquid fry food for egg
layers. Of course, if you are set up, you can feed newly
hatched brine shrimp. Do careful water changes in the fry
tank(so you don't siphon out the fry), frequently, so the
fry are in clean water.....good luck.
hi im going to tri and breed albino and broz cordoras a. they are so cute.i also
have 1 plecos,I have one in each of my 29gal tanks.I breed bettas to.

Welcome to eveyone. This page is dedicated to all
those neat catfish we keep in our aquariums. We may be
outnumbered by cichlid people, but we know which fish are the
best! If you know of a catfish page, feel free to post
a link to it, or if you have a picture of catfish,
post it to the page or e-mail it to me and I will.
Have fun! Once we get some members, we can set up a
chat time. Feel free to leave a message until then or
use the chat room between yourselves.
