Hi Kat,
I was just wondering if you know of anyone who makes leather
halti's. Kia broke his halti yesterday when we were walking and it
made for a very rough return walk home. There is one dog in the
neighbourhood that he just goes ape about when he sees him and he
pulled so hard he actually broke his halti this time.
I took Kia home and did a temporary repair of his halti, (I added a
leather strap) and then I took him back to see the other dog. He
went wild again so I dropped the leash and let him go to the other
dog and then I sprayed Kia with water. It was weird because when we
walked by that same spot a few minutes later the other dog came to
the fence but he didn't bark or growl and when I tried it again, the
dog didn't even come to the fence. So hopefully that means that the
walks will get easier. I can't walk Kia without going past this
other dog because our streets are all dead ends and unless we want a
really, really short walk I have to get this resolved. Any
suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Deborah

A Letter from Michael Moore to George W. Bush on the Eve of War
George W. Bush 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Washington, DC
Dear Governor Bush:
So today is what you call "the moment of truth," the day that "France and the rest of world have to show their cards on the table." I'm glad to hear that this day has finally arrived. Because, I gotta tell ya, having survived 440 days of your lying and conniving, I wasn't sure if I could take much more. So I'm glad to hear that today is Truth Day, 'cause I got a few truths I would like to share with you:
1. There is virtually NO ONE in America (talk radio nutters and Fox News aside) who is gung-ho to go to war. Trust me on this one. Walk out of the White House and on to any street in America and try to find five people who are PASSIONATE about wanting to kill Iraqis. YOU WON'T FIND THEM! Why? 'Cause NO Iraqis have ever come here and killed any! of us! No Iraqi has even threatened to do that. You see, this is how we average Americans think: If a certain so-and-so is not perceived as a threat to our lives, then, believe it or not, we don't want to kill him! Funny how that works!
2. The majority of Americans -- the ones who never elected you -- are not fooled by your weapons of mass distraction. We know what the real issues are that affect our daily lives -- and none of them begin with I or end in Q. Here's what threatens us: two and a half million jobs lost since you took office, the stock market having become a cruel joke, no one knowing if their retirement funds are going to be there, gas now costs almost two dollars -- the list goes on and on. Bombing Iraq will not make any of this go away. Only you need to go away for things to improve.
3. As Bill Maher said last week, how bad do you have to suck to lose a popularity contest with Saddam Hussein? The whole world is a! gainst you, Mr. Bush. Count your fellow Americans among them. < BR>
4. The Pope has said this war is wrong, that it is a SIN. The Pope! But even worse, the Dixie Chicks have now come out against you! How bad does it have to get before you realize that you are an army of one on this war? Of course, this is a war you personally won't have to fight. Just like when you went AWOL while the poor were shipped to Vietnam in your place.
5. Of the 535 members of Congress, only ONE (Sen. Johnson of South Dakota) has an enlisted son or daughter in the armed forces! If you really want to stand up for America, please send your twin daughters over to Kuwait right now and let them don their chemical warfare suits. And let's see every member of Congress with a child of military age also sacrifice their kids for this war effort. What's that you say? You don't THINK so? Well, hey, guess what -- we don't think so either!
6. Finally, we love France. Yes, they have pulled some royal screw-ups. Yes, some of the! m can be pretty damn annoying. But have you forgotten we wouldn't even have this country known as America if it weren't for the French? That it was their help in the Revolutionary War that won it for us? That our greatest thinkers and founding fathers -- Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, etc. -- spent many years in Paris where they refined the concepts that lead to our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution? That it was France who gave us our Statue of Liberty, a Frenchman who built the Chevrolet, and a pair of French brothers who invented the movies? And now they are doing what only a good friend can do -- tell you the truth about yourself, straight, no b.s. Quit pissing on the French and thank them for getting it right for once. You know, you really should have traveled more (like once) before you took over. Your ignorance of the world has not only made you look stup id, it has painted you into a corner you can't get out of.
Well, cheer up -- there IS good news. If you do go through with t his war, more than likely it will be over soon because I'm guessing there aren't a lot of Iraqis willing to lay down their lives to protect Saddam Hussein. After you "win" the war, you will enjoy a huge bump in the popularity polls as everyone loves a winner -- and who doesn't like to see a good ass-whoopin' every now and then (especially when it 's some third world ass!). So try your best to ride this victory all the way to next year's election. Of course, that's still a long ways away, so we'll all get to have a good hardy-har-har while we watch the economy sink even further down the toilet!
But, hey, who knows -- maybe you'll find Osama a few days before the election! See, start thinking like THAT! Keep hope alive! Kill Iraqis -- they got our oil!!

Deborah,
Yes my mom did tell me about Brookes little visit. I thought we were
finished with that!! I guess mom didn't know not to let the Brooke in
the fence without being watched. Kynda's good with catching Brooke
isn't she?
I will tell her you enjoyed the pound cake.
I thought it looked like you might have a black eye when I saw you a
few days ago. There was certainly a big enough lump on your eyebrow
for it to turn black!
Kelly, I wasn't sure if the chat was on tonight or not because
Deborah and Arman couldn't make it. I thought it would be about 8pm
here, but I was just told it was probably around 6pm. So, I think I
missed it. Sorry! Maybe we should try through MSN or yahoo messanger
next time.
Take care everyone,
Jess

Jessie,
Did your mom tell you that Kynda helped us catch Brooke last night.
You and Jaime were out and Brooke came over for an unscheduled
visit. Kynda stayed in her own yard for the longest time but was
watching. When your mom came over to help me catch Brooke Kynda
also came over or through the fence I am not sure how. Anyway I
asked Kynda to get Brooke and she did, she tackled her to the ground
and then we were able to get a leash on her. I put a leash on Kynda
and we brought the dogs back home and put them in the house.
Let you mom know that we loved the lemon pound cake with the
strawberries, it was delicious.
Oh by the way I did endup with a black eye as a result of getting
hit in the eyebrow when Kia jumped on the door of the chain link
fence, as I was trying to open it. I am going to have to get that
adjusted so it doesn't happen again. So now I am working on
training them to stay in their yard until I call them out. I make
them wait until I say okay come here. I will let you know how it
goes. My poor hubby is afraid people are going to think he beats me
after my last two dog related injuries.
Okay everyone take care.

LMAO, Kat, you're sooo funny.
Deborah, we went for a visit to the other vet and it seems really
good. We're going to switch vets. Kyndas shots are in 2 months so
we'll see how it goes. I'll tell you more next time I see you.

LOL, that is cute. Reminds me of my cousin Kayden, he gave their

That is definitely cute, but on the other hand it wouldn't be if it
was your laptop the puppy was peeing on. If it was mine I would

Buddhists are incredible people, and some of the most sincere that I've ever
met. Not surprisingly, most that I've encountered here are in the healing
professions.
It's good to see you back online too! Are you back to full strength?

Arman,
Glad to hear that you are finally on the mend. The cough will
linger for a while but if you suck on a hard candy or drink warm
liquids the cough will be less.
Sorry to hear that Babe and Marge are at it again. I don't know
what the answer is there. Maybe Babe is jealous of Marge or simply
doesn't like small dogs. I had a dog like that once it was sad.
It is nice having my dad here he is still having difficulty dealing
with my mother's death but at least he is trying to do more things.
He is really quite depressed they were married for 47 years, so I
can imagine he feels like he has lost his best friend.
Take care everyone,
Deborah

Hi Arman,
Good to hear you're feeling better. You sure were sick a longggg time!
The vet visit was very interesting. There was an 8 year old golden
also waiting for the vet so we had a nice good chat (I went with
Kynda too) for about 15 minutes. It was so interesting to see how
close in color Brooke and the other golden was. This guy really liked
Kynda. He was complimenting her ears, her face, and oh what a soft
coat LOL. Eventually he said Kynda could be a "show dog" hehehe.
The vet said Brooke was healthy, and wasn't overweight (we thought
she might have been a little chubby). He felt her hips (I guess) and
said they were alright, it's to early to tell. We're a little
frusterated with the vet right now. Because it's his veternary
office, he thinks he can be a half an hour late. And, he thinks he
can do a veternary check up in less then 5 minutes. Is this normal?
Do all doggy doctors think they can check a dog in 5 minutes?
I hope we'll have the dogs trained to the fence before the family
comes too. Even if they have to be supervised through the window
while they're outside. I can paint, watch Kynda out the window, and
watch Kayden all at the same time ;) No problem ;) LOL
That's to bad you couldn't make it to the chat. Maybe we could go
through MSN, or Yahoo messanger so we can all chat. I just figured
out yesterday how to make my status online on the yahoo groups. I
just sign into yahoo messanger. Does everyone here have either yahoo
messanger or MSN?
Pooooor Marge, and pooooor Arman. That's just to bad that you're
still having problems. I thought it was all fixed. I'm not sure, but
maybe having one of them spayed would help. Hopefully everything will
work out soon.
Good to hear from you again, take care, and get well soon.

hello gang!
feeling better. I might have this bacterial lung infection beaten
yet .... i am finally off the anti-biotics (whew!) after nearly 4
weeks of being on them. the cough lingers on ... but will hopefully
also depart in a week or so.
nice to see that your dad is visiting deb. its always exciting to
have family over. my house can be a mad house at times. its an open
for all house, so we have my siblings & suz's staying over whenever
they get into a fight with the parents, or just need a shoulder to
cry on or a bit of cheering up (or permission & excuse to go to late
night parties ... LOL)! Plus there's the usual mele of our friends
and sometimes friends of friends who stay over for a couple of days
or so when they are in trouble and need to be tided over for a while.
we also have friends turn up at 11:00 pm or later at night for a
coffee and laugh! i would rather have a house like this than a nice
quiet tidy one .. lol!
jessie, tell jaime i wish her all the luck at the vets. hope they
don't find anything wrong with brooke's hips. keep us updated on how
their fence training goes. good luck with the 3 week deadline, hope
you have them trained within this time. certainly going to take loads
and loads of work.
kelly, i don't think that i can make it to the chat room this time.
but perhaps next time who knows. one of the best features about this
group is that it shows when people are online. since i have created a
yahoo id just for this group, i have noticed that whenever i sign in
on yahoo and join the group and start posting, it automatically shows
me as being online. i know its a lot of trouble to create new ids but
if everyone had one than wouldn't it be great to just hop over to the
chat room whenever we are online, coz we would be able to see who
else is online at the same time?
another thing is i have the same prob as deb. my computer at work
does not allow chatting except on msn & yahoo messenger. something
about company firewall policy. so perhaps we can all sign in and chat
on msn messenger or something, i know most of us have msn ids to sign
in on. let's see how this goes. would certainly be interesting to
chat with everyone online at the same time.
kat, how are you holding up? its great to see that your daughter has
decided to stay at home with you guys and stick it out. good for both
of you. soooooo ..... you are human after all ;-) he he he!! imagine
you trying to pack all your 8 dogs in the car and coming over for a
group union .... LOL! i can imagine homer howling all the way from
here to the states (all 18 hours of flight time). would be a hoot!
all the kids were doing great. but then babe AGAIN attacked marge on
tuesday. now we are back on square one. and i am ready to start
tearing my hair out. this time, i had just stepped out of the room
and was in the next room and so very little damage has been done. but
i am telling you guys, i am about ready to throw in the towel on this
one. i am fed up and just can't figure out what the hell i have to do
to get it thru to babe's head that marge is not a "prey" (yes, that's
how she looks at her soemtime). sometime they are nice and agreeable
together and spends time grooming each other and then things like
this happens, totally unprovoked (i was there this time). why can't a
nice gal like babe just get it thru to her head that biting marge is
a big no no?
more on everything else later on guys. i am getting upset again just
from talking about this.
take care all.
group hug, prayers & best wishes,
arman.
hi kelly,
its great to see you posting away once again. missed you!
i loooooooooove buddhism! i had a buddist as a friend and did a lot
of hanging around their monasteries and studying their religion too.
very peaceful. both suz and i think that its the most peace loving,
non conflict, non violent religion in the world. ever tried sitting
in front of buddha and meditating? its like he looks at you and sees
right thru to the inside of you. no one can stand to be examined like
that and still commit sins/crimes. makes you question every single
thought in your own head. looooooove him & his philosophy.
every religion has its high points but personally i think buddhism
and the followers of "Ram Krishna missions" to be the most pacifists.
i used to go to this particular "ram krishna mission mandir(temple)"
and the high priest there was awesome. we used to sit and talk about
religion and god and this was in a time when i was questioning my
faith in the higher being ..... not as a muslim but as a human being
on wether or not there was a higher being <smile> this priest would
quote the quran, the bible, gita and their book with equal ease to
get a point thru when proving how the higher being was really there
for all of us. he bowled me over!

Woof!
A German shepherd went to a Western Union office, took out a blank
form and
wrote, "Woof..woof..woof..woof..woof..woof..woof..woof...woof."
The clerk examined the paper and told the dog, "There are only nine
words here. You could send another 'woof' for the same price."
"But," the dog replied, "it would make no sense at all."
This, - he said - isn't any ordinary package." He un-wrapped the box

I still think those words changed my life:

* I sit on the porch without worrying about anything.
* I spend more time with my family, and less at work.
* I understood that life should be a source of experience to be lived
to, not survived through.
* I no longer keep anything.
* I use crystal glasses every day.
* I'll wear new clothes to go to the supermarket, if I feel like it.
* I don't save my special perfume for special occasions; I use it
whenever I want to.
* The words "Someday..." and "One Day..." are fading away from my dictionary

* I'd like to think she would go out for Chinese, her favourite food.
It's these small things that I would regret not doing, if I knew my time

* See the friends I would meet.

* I would regret and feel sad, because I didn't say to my brothers and
sons, how much I love them.
Now, I try not to delay, postpone or keep anything that could bring
laughter and joy into our lives.
And, on each morning, I say to myself that this could be a special day

Excaliburk9 German Shepherd Dogs Kat's Dog Training Center and / On line Canine Behavior and Training Services
Hi Kelly,
That's good news. Your way of training is the same way the video told
us to train them. I just bought a long leash to start training as
soon as possible. I didn't realise how big of a job it would be to
install the fence, so we're probably going to wait til the weekend to
install it. We also don't have enough wire (only 500 feet) so we need
to purchase some more too. A roll of 500 foot wire costs $50.00
Canadian, is it that much over there? I find it rather expensive...
Take care,
Jess
