Hi Group,
This was sent ot me as a list owner and I feel that it is a good cause to
promote. We should all be in favor of trying to extend the time frame of our
vaccines. Do with it what you will.
Karen Bergman
Greetings:
The goal of The Rabies Challenge Fund Charitable Trust is to extend the
legally required interval for rabies boosters to 5 and then 7 years, based on
the findings of the rabies challenge studies currently underway at the
University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine. If the studies' results
demonstrate that the rabies vaccine confers 5, and possibly 7, years of
immunity, there would be a significant impact on controlling rabies and reducing
adverse reactions associated with the vaccine.
Today I am writing to ask for your help. The Rabies Challenge Fund relies on
donations to finance the multi-year challenge studies that began in November
2007. Due to the economic downturn, the Fund has a $26,000 shortfall for the
third year of the studies, scheduled for this fall. This deficit threatens the
future of the research.
Costs for the studies' third year are $175,000. Since January, we have raised
nearly $149,000 of that amount. Please contribute what you can, as soon as you
can. All donations received will be used to finance the direct research costs
of the rabies challenge studies.
With your help, we can raise the $26,000 necessary to complete the third year
of the 5 and 7-year rabies challenge studies. Tax-exempt donations can be
mailed to The Rabies Challenge Fund, c/o Hemopet, 11561 Salinaz Avenue, Garden
Grove, CA 92843. Credit card donations can be phoned in to Hemopet (specify
they are for The Rabies Challenge Fund) by calling (714) 891-2022, ext. 13.
Thank you for your support of this important work.
Sincerely,
Kris L. Christine

Hi all,
Today Chloe (Can CH Countryroad Sweet Surrender,CD, RA, NA, NAJ, RD) turned
13. Chloe is the 1st dal (dog for that matter) that I have owned. She stole my
heart the minute I took her home. On her first day with us she rode in the car
wrapped in a down coat while my husband and I laid out the course for a winter
rally. She has been comfortable in a car ever since.
I had always been into horses and a dalmatian seemed a logical choice when my
husband wanted to get another dog. After I read up on the breed and learned
about road trials, I knew that if I ever had a dog it would have to be a
dalmatian. I thank Linda and Charlie Cyopic for taking a chance in a "newbie"
and letting us get her. I still remeber he taking best of breed under Esme
Treen. I will always remember my exhileration with that win. I never did show
her much in the states as I didn't want to breed and my research indicated that
I should spay her before her 2nd birthday for better health. She got her
championship in Canada and was spayed the following Tuesday - not much of a
birthday present, I know. She has been a healthy lively girl for her entire
life.
She has been a joy for the entire 13 years she has been with us and I look
forward to at least a few more years with her. She mostly sleeps now, but when
she is up and about she can still tear through the garbage and out run my boy
who is 6 years her junior.
Extra cookies and ice cream at dinner tonight.
Thanks for letting me share.

For those of you who are interested in supporting the Road Trial at
Nationals with a special donated award:
It's time to offer any special awards for the DCA national Road Trial 2010.
Last year the following special awards were offered:
(2009):
BEST CONDITIONED DOG - Dalmatian Sculpture created & donated by Peggy Ann
Strupp,
Redrock Dalmatians
BEST CONDITIONED OWNER RIDDEN/DRIVEN HORSE - 10x13 Inch Cindy Alverado Print
“Follow The Dots” offered by Tibbie Dell in memory of Reno
HIGHEST SCORING CHAMPION OF RECORD (AKC, UKC OR CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIP)-
Dalmatian Sculpture created & donated by Peggy Ann Strupp, Redrock
Dalmatians
So far, we don't have any special awards that have been offered for the
nationals Road Trial. Please contact me if you are interested in donating
money to cover a special award, or if you are interested in donating an
actual physical item to be awarded as a special award. In addition to the
above categories, people have also donated special awards for: HIGH SCORING
RESCUE DOG; HIGH SCORING RD-A DOG; HIGH SCORING VETERAN; OLDEST DOG;
YOUNGEST DOG; BEST SPEED EXERCISE; etc.
The donation of a "special award" is always greatly appreciated. Sometimes
these awards are donated by breeders or owners who expect to compete or
expect a dog of their breeding to compete. Special awards also serve as a
great token of rememebrance.
Actual physical donations of a trophy, sculpture, art work, etc.are coveted
prizes held in the highest esteem, but they do not help cover the Road Trial
expenses. As a resulte, special award donations are not eligible for the
Road Trial t-shirt.
There will be a T-shirt-for-$$ to the Road Trial fund-program again this
year. Details on the T-shirt will be forthcoming.
Please contact me within the week if you are interested in donating or
sponsoring a special award.
Thanks to all of you who support Road Trials: a breathtaking display
of Dalmatian heritage!

Wow! That's a great set of achievements indeed!
We don't have any kind of versatility awards here :-(
There are no Dalmatians with Agility Championships here either :-(
It's a very hard title to earn and it's only been around for a few
years.
There aren't that many Dals currently doing Agility and I can't see
any gaining that title in the near future ... ...
