IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ!!
Pancreatitis can kill your dog if not treated quickly and properly by a veterinarian. Any healthcare advice given here is NOT to replace a visit to a veterinarian; please take your dog to a vet immediately at any signs of odd behavior, or any symptoms of illness. Call your vet and describe your dog's symptoms, the vet may find changes in your dog's health condition that you may have overlooked. It is better to err on the side of caution with any life-threatening disease.
This list is a support group that discusses pancreatitis in dogs.We are not nutritionists, and suggest contacting a nutritionist to fully evaluate and calculate a diet appropriate for your dog; all dogs are different, and respond to things differently. We discuss acute, chronic, primary, and secondary cases of pancreatitis. Many of the discussions focus on primary health diseases that may trigger secondary pancreatitis in your dog, such as IBD, Cushings, kidney disease, liver disease, etc. Diagnostic testing, diet, medications and supplements are also a large part of the discussion.
The pancreatitis dog list was started in November 2000.
The original caninepancreatitis list is no longer active but our archives from Nov 2000 to Nov 2003 are available to members only.
