Among the Dutch breeds, the Dutch Partridge Dog has a prominent place. It is an ancient (old breed), which has been highly estimated
in the Netherlands for several ages. After 1565 in the thinly populated moorlands of the Netherlands, dogs brought here by Spanish armies mixed with our native dogs, causing a new breed: the Dutch Partridge Dog. During several ages of hard life in and around the huts in Drente this dog became a real jack-of-all-trades:
Family dog: friend of the family
Yard dog: protecting house and family
Hunting dog: tracking and collecting during the hunt
