 I just made a reservation at Virginia's beach for the collecting trip and I was the first one to reserve.  She said she only has 3 other sires outside our block and once those are gone she will have to start letting our sites go.  So, I suggest that anyone that plans to go on the collecting trip had better reserve a site within the next couple of days.  We have the block reserved for Friday night July 8th and Saturday night July 9th.  It costs $24.00/ night for two adults.  She requires a credit card that will be billed for one night to reserve a site.  So please get on it!

We decided at the executive meeting to try to solve the "lodgings"
problem associated with the collecting trip by getting a block of
campsites at one of the nicest campgrounds in the area. I just
managed to do that.  She doesn't want to hold them for long, so
there's a bit of a rush here. If you think it's appropriate, you
could put a "rush" somehow in to the subject line?

Greetings ESP members,

It's getting close to collecting season again, and the annual Entomological Society of Pennsylvania collecting trip has been scheduled for July 8 to 10, a bit later than usual to allow for favorable astronomical conditions for night-time collecting.  It will be held at Presque Isle State Park, which should have unique and interesting habitats for us to explore.  You can spend a day or the entire weekend. 

Since the park does not have any overnight facilities, we must find accommodations elsewhere.  I've managed to hold a block of "primitive, wooded" campsites at Virginia's beach campground, about 20 miles from the park.  They are located all together.  Base cost per night is $24 which includes 2 adults.  Additional people 3 to 17 years old cost $3 each, 18+ are $7. The bath house has hot and cold running water.  They would like to know quickly how many we will be using.

We realize that all this could be an inconvenience, but we believe collecting at Presque Isle is well worth the effort.  We have permission to be in the park collecting at night time, even if there are no camping areas there.  The park managers are doing everything they can to help us have a successful trip, and we will have areas set aside to work and gather.
