Hi everybody,
Not seabirds I know, but I am sure many of you will be interested in
the latest cetacean sightings from Baja California, Mexico.....
Baja California - probably the best place to watch whales on the
planet - has come up trumps yet again! As Nature Intended (www.as-
nature-intended.com) recently cruised through Baja, and encountered
over 30 Blue Whales, as well as Humpback Whales, Fin Whales, Bryde's
Whales, Short-finned Pilot Whales, Pacific White-sided Dolphins,
Common Dolphins, and Bottlenose Dolphins, as well as as Gualdalupe
Fur Seals, California Sea Lions, and Northern Elephant Seals.
And as if all that was not enough to quench the thirst of any whale
watcher, we also had incredible eye to eye encounters with Gray Whale
mothers and calves in the Mexican breeding lagoons!
Great arid-zone birds included Roadrunner, Xantu's (endemic) and
Costa's Hummingbirds, Hooded Orioles, Verdin, Cactus Wren, Gray
Thrasher (another endemic), plus the unpronouncably-named
Pyrrhuloxia!
