Hallo all,
Not had much time for any serious sea-watching this year, but yesterday I
managed to spend a few hours at my lookout at Svellingen on the island of
Sotra near Bergen in Western Norway. It was a good day but what stood out
was the huge (for me) numbers of terns. There was both Arctic and Common but
numbers were far too many to get definite counts of both species so I lumped
everything under Comic Tern. Using a click counter I clocked up 1107 birds.
There were many more flocks that went past without me being able to count
them. Has anybody on the group witnessed large numbers moving north in the
past week.
Regards,
Eddie Chapman, Voss, Norway.
