Want to join a small, friendly CRF community where people know exactly how you feel when you get that scary diagnosis? Want a place to go where you know the suggestions made will be based on knowledge and experience, and where we will help you work with your vet to help your cat? Then this list is for you. It doesn't matter if your cat has recently been diagnosed with CRF, or if you've been dealing with this ugly disease for some time now, we all need support while fighting CRF.
This list is owned by Helen, who has been running Tanya's Feline Chronic Renal Failure website for eight years. We know CRF is overwhelming at times, particularly when you've just received that scary diagnosis, but in most cases it is possible to help your cat. In order to do this though, it's essential that you educate yourself and become your cat's advocate; and this list aims to help you do that. Always remember, knowledge is power.
The goal is to provide you with information on how best to help your CRF cat, and also how to cope with CRF yourself, all from a practical perspective. Topics covered include how bad your cat's case might be, persuading your CRF cat to eat, which symptoms to look for, and commonly used treatments which you can discuss with your vet to see if they are appropriate for your cat. And we'll hold your hand while you're learning all this.
IMPORTANT: IF YOU APPLY TO JOIN THIS LIST, YOU WILL BE SENT A SHORT (3 QUESTIONS) NON-INTRUSIVE QUESTIONNAIRE. YOU HAVE TO RESPOND TO THIS BEFORE YOUR MEMBERSHIP WILL BE APPROVED. This is to protect existing listmembers from spammers. Your membership will be approved quickly if you respond to the questionnaire. If you do not receive the questionnaire shortly after applying to join, please contact the listowner at the address at the bottom of this page.
