What I have found with over 35 years of tatooing is the clamp type if you take
the time toi learn how to use it. Don't skip steps and do it when the bunnies
are first separated. If you wait to tatoo until they are older the pen or
electric works well BUT you better have a steady had and be able to hold the
rabbit quietly while doing it. You had best practice and then that doesn't often
work if you have a jumpy rabbit and oops a line where you don't want it. I had
one who's name was Dora so I wanted to put in DO well she jumped and I had DQ
not what you want for an ear number. She went into the brood pens and so I
didn't have to be embarassed at the show table. I did find cleaning and putting
it back together so it worked the most challenging but I did have one of the
earliest ones. The one I liked the best was made by a tatoo artist friend out
of a old electric clipper but it is a plug in but still I never felt comfortable
enough to use it without
lots of practice first and doing so few now it is hard to stay good at it.
